Naked bike ride

Was in London yesterday: naked bike ride. Fine.. not my thing (or many other women). They finished the ride/protest/whatvever and then conjugated near B palace.. and just seemed to be happy wafting their micro penis’s about for kicks and giggles/

A lot of horrid middle aged naked men kicking about just felt unnecessary.

and 🤮

No

I am just someone who thinks people's legal rights to live as they wish is something we need to defend

And someone who thinks that "this is wrong because it personally offends me" is a slippery slope for laws. Because the same argument can be made for religious expression, being openly gay, dressing flamboyantly/non conforming etc

But only certain people have the right to live as they wish?

The people who don’t want to be faced with mens genitalia as they go about their day have to just get on with it?

Do you have any regard for the feelings of SA survivors on this thread who are upset by the sight? Or do you prioritise men’s desire to take their clothes off, not just outside in a private area with consenting adults around them, but in a busy public area where they know that many unconsenting people will see them?

I think I know the answer.

We should start presuming people are committing crimes without evidence?

Geez some of you really are worrying

I really hope they don’t get invited for jury service.

I’m not pro anything apart from people being to do perfectly legal things. Surely it’s only unhygienic if you touch them, in which case you’d be committing an offence.

Have you got Children? Do you really believe it's normal for people to go around naked day to day?

DoctorRoseReturns · 16/06/2025 21:28

BIossomtoes · 16/06/2025 21:07

I think they believe we’re living in Minority Report.

I'm sure some MNers are just waiting to be able to become Aunties and are practising their Blessed Bes already....

These events are cleared by the police and the time, date and location publicised in advance.
If seeing naked buttocks on bikes triggers you then it can be avoided. You only see genitals if you are head on and looking.

Apparently you can only be anti men or pro perverts and not pro letting people get on with their lives in a perfectly legal way and pro not letting the law get more and more control based on what "Brenda on MN finds acceptable"

It doesn’t matter whether it’s normal (whatever that means) or not. It’s within the parameters of legal activity. I feel sorry for your children being brought up to believe the naked human body is something shameful.

No. Someone would be committing a crime if they did a criminal act. I’m suggesting that being naked in public should be a criminal act regardless of the reason. Because IMO there is no reason good enough that outweighs the greater societal need for public decency.

Currently the law disagrees with me. I am obviously suggesting that the law should change.

Isn't it partly to highlight the vulnerability of cyclists

Fascinating. So everyone else has to watch social media/whatever in order to see these notifications, then re-arrange their day to avoid what looks like a main thoroughfare so that a load of men can get their bits out?

I’ve asked the others arguing this but I’ll ask you. Do you have any regard for the feelings of SA survivors on this thread who would be upset to encounter naked men in public as they go about their day? Any at all?

You do realise that there are people who aren't on Mumsnet that aren't into getting their fannies and cocks out in public.

Not just Brenda's on Mumsnet.

I think you and a few other posters are a bit strange or are naturists. Crack on.

I think I know the answer.

Again, what about people who start saying "I don't like seeing gay people" or "I think women should be fully covered up" or "I find it offensive to see men wearing shorts" ?

Do we have to start further restrictions because "someone out there doesn't like it"?

Again, it's not JUST MEN!

Lots of things can trigger people. Unfortunately, that's life. You can unexpectedly be triggered at any time. It can be a song that was playing at the time, the scent of someone's perfume or aftershave, a colour, a picture...

We can't protect everyone from everything that might trigger them or we'd never have anything.

Well, it is no different to checking the weather or traffic reports. Or seeing if a marathon run is going to fuck up your day... or a planned protest.

Please don’t use the ‘survivors of Sexual Abuse’ card when you don’t know who you are interacting with.

You are suggesting the law is changed to make it illegal to do something purely because "they might be doing something bad"

Which becomes "arresting people for looking a bit dodgey"

grumpygrape · 16/06/2025 21:41

People get ‘triggered’ by all sorts of different things. Survivors of sexual assault may, or may not, be triggered by seeing a naked male person but should we exterminate all snakes, sharks, spiders, or even all other humans just in case they might be or become harmful and/or trigger reactions ?

I don’t see anyone here prioritising ‘men’s rights’ just the rights of all people to be, legally, naked if they wish.

I don’t see anyone here suggesting any man or woman has the right to sexually assault another person.

If anyone is seriously triggered by seeing a penis I would advocate therapy.

Perhaps I should start knitting covers for table legs…..

grumpygrape · 16/06/2025 21:39

Please don’t use the ‘survivors of Sexual Abuse’ card when you don’t know who you are interacting with.

Especially as, if in 1 in 4 women have been raped (to use their stats) and the majority of women have experienced some form of SA then it's statistically likely that some of those who don't have a problem with this are also survivors

TheScentOfElonMusk · 16/06/2025 21:43

How is saying that people shouldn’t be publicly naked in front of children is the same as saying people shouldn’t wear shorts or be gay?

Why do you think they are the same?

BundleBoogie · 16/06/2025 21:43

DoctorRoseReturns · 16/06/2025 17:56

I think my point is obvious

The argument penises should be covered because they "might" be used to cause harm is a silly one because lots of things which could cause harm are perfectly allowed to be seem

Anyone has the right to be naked in public, not just men.

Why aren't you also protesting seeing naked fannies?

I have no words.

You said I'm saying making the argument the penis should be hidden because it could cause harm is stupid because other things can cause harm and aren't covered

So you sincerely believe this and therefore think that the crime of indecent exposure is not actually a crime?

What are your thoughts on the proven pattern of escalation where indecent exposure is a gateway offence which too often escalates to rape and/or murder?
