Whenever my DH is due to look after our LO he calls on his mum

my MiL is lovely so no issue with her looking after our LO (9months), she has 9 DGC and is a very hands on and helpful nana. But, whenever I have an event or day out solo and my DH is due to look after our child he says he’s asked his mum to have her, or he takes LO to hers.

I’ve realised he’s never looked after our child on his own and I feel a bit miffed by it. I do it all day as a SAHM so on the very few occasions he needs to look after LO he palms it off.

AIBU to feel irritated and just ask him to do it himself?

YANBU. I’d despise him a bit for this. Good to see that you view this as a him problem rather than a her problem.

My ex does this. Has the kids every other weekend and stays with his mum for those weekends. Then has the audacity to come back and say that it’s been tiring or hard 😳

Ugh, pathetic. Have you told him how big a turn off that is? Grown man running to mommy for help, ick.

We had twins and this happened a lot for the first year or so. It did wear off over time. Looking back with teens soon to leave home it didn’t impact their relationship long term and does mean that they have a lovely relationship with my MIL.
It annoyed me no end at the time but ultimately wasn’t a meaningful issue.

Maybe he just likes to go and see his mum with the little one? I wouldn't be annoyed, my DH often took the children to see PIL on weekends if I was busy - to be honest I was just glad that I didn't have to go! Not that I wasn't fond of them but it's not as relaxing as seeing your own mum & dad is it!

your baby has the attention of two loving adults when you are out for the day. Enjoy the knowledge that your baby is thriving and husband and MIL are happy .
