Redundancy Rant

First time posting on mumsnet!

Not sure I’m looking for advice, mainly a rant, or someone to relate.

I’ve just been made redundant and due to go on maternity leave in October, I was also JUST in the middle of buying a new house. I have a 4 year old and has lived here since she was born, it’s in a lovely cul de sac but you can’t swing a cat in here and we really need an extra bedroom for the baby (my OH permanently works from home so the third (box) bedroom is an office, he can’t work at the kitchen table unfortunately as he works in IT and has to have a huge set up!) I’m also about a 30 min drive from my parents who I am really close to, and no friends here. The house has served its purpose but it’s time to move on.

I got a good severance package, but won’t be accepted for a mortgage until I have a job, which will probably be October time next year - hopefully.
My little one is starting school this September and I had hoped to have moved before then, now I will be taking her probably mid way through year 1.

I just feel down in the dumps, everything was planned out and now I feel like my life has been put on hold, when everything was going so so well (and also hope I can find another job when I’m off mat leave).

So yeah I guess I am just looking to rant :(

I’m really sorry to hear that OP. Sounds like a tricky situation! If it helps, my DD shared our room in our previous house until we moved when she was around 18 months; they really don’t need the whole nursery set up. But at the same time I totally sympathise and you must be absolutely crushed with the house move stopping as well as the redundancy.
