Heartbroken. Dropping HCG.

A week ago today I found out I was pregnant.
My period was due on 30/05 and I had 2/3 days of brown blood when I wiped but 2 negative tests. Then the 2-3 positive on Wednesday.

I had a searing pain in my stomach abdomen on Sunday, plus wiped and there was a small amount of blood. Pulling sensation since, feels like gas.

I went to A&E on Monday as I said I had a sore backside and was worried re ectopic. HCG levels were taken and pregnancy was confirmed.

The pain has since eased and turned into more of a period type cramping, alongside a “wet” feeling down there. I’ve wiped today and had another single incident of brown blood.
I was told to attend the EPU today for monitoring bloods which have sadly dropped so practitioner has determined early miscarriage, I have to go back for more bloods next Wednesday.

I have health anxiety. And I can’t help but worry. Is this normal for a miscarriage? No one has shown any concerns re ectopic pregnancy or rupture but I catastrophize everything.

To add the pain has eased, and if anything I feel like I’m about to start my period.

I'm so sorry that you've lost your baby.

I've had a lot of miscarriages and what you describe is completely normal.

Are you going to have surgical management?

needingadvice12 · 11/06/2025 20:19

I’m not sure what’s happening 😔
I have to attend the EPU next Wednesday.

They'll need to assess whether or not you need any further treatment.

You may miscarry naturally by then.

Mrsttcno1 · 11/06/2025 20:22

I’m sorry OP, if it is any consolation what you describe sounds very typical and normal for an early miscarriage and it doesn’t seem as though there are any flags that would point to the pregnancy being ectopic so I wouldn’t worry about that side of things.

Focussingonme · 11/06/2025 20:23

I am really sorry for your loss.

If you were only a few weeks pregnant, an ectopic wouldn't cause you any issues. They become problematic when the body doesn't recognize it as ectopic and it continues to grow which is what causes the rupture.

The feeling like you are going to start your period is normal with an early miscarriage and that what will likely happen. It may be slightly heavier and slightly more painful but your body knows what it is doing so although it's not nice you shouldn't need any more intervention and it will pass naturally. Go back for your bloods and if you haven't had a period type bleed make sure you tell them.

Be kind to yourself.

needingadvice12 · 11/06/2025 20:24

Thank you so much all. I think I was 6 weeks today. My last period was 30/04/25.

The hospital said my HCG had dropped to 544.

Does sound like an early miscarriage. Be kind to yourself it's a traumatic thing to go through and it's OK to feel all the emotions of grief.

Ella31 · 11/06/2025 20:30

I'm so sorry, yes its exactly how my miscarriages were. Take care of yourself and take the time to heal. Feel free to rant here if you need it. Miscarriage is a lonely loss and its ok to feel everything you are feeling xx

needingadvice12 · 11/06/2025 20:30

I just feel so upset. My older child is watching something on CBeebies and it’s just reminding me of them as a little baby.

I had an abortion after DC was born, I feel like this is my karma

I also haven’t had any pregnancy symptoms. No nausea, no sore boobs, no heightened sense of smell or food aversions. I only tested positive a week ago. Sending you all love who have gone through this hell.

It really is hell.
And honey, please don't start thinking that this is because of your TOP.

Hey OP .. Sorry to hear you are going through this ..
It’s not karma, just a horrible thing to happen to you ..
I hope you will start to feel better soon x x

needingadvice12 · 11/06/2025 22:40

I’ve just wiped and seems to be a pink streak on the paper. This is just agony.
No more weird pains just as though I’m beginning my period. Even got the weird pain down my leg that I get every month.

Anyone else who’s been through this, is the gas/trapped wind and noisy stomach normal?

I'm so sorry OP but please don't think this is karma. I also had an abortion after my first born and it was the right decision at the time as I am sure it was for you. It is very sad you are going through what you are and please look after yourself.

Yes, that's to do with progesterone release and it's normal in a miscarriage.

needingadvice12 · 12/06/2025 14:24

Thank you all. The period cramps have ramped up today and I’ve had quite abit of bleeding.

Spoke to the EPU this morning and they said A&E bloods on Monday were low and by yesterday they’d already halved.
Not quite early enough for a chemical pregnancy but a very early miscarriage.
They’ve told me that the general progression will be that I just start my period now.

OP posts:
Chocolateorange22 · 12/06/2025 14:29

Sending hugs just be gentle with yourself over the next few days. Just to say the bleeding maybe heavier than what you are used to on a period. If it seems excessive then don't hesitate to call back EPU or 111 even.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 14/06/2025 16:00

How are you today @needingadvice12

It's normal. Lots of pregnancies are not viable. 1 in 5 known pregnancies end in miscarriage. Some people won't even know as it miscarries so early they don't even know they're pregnant and it's like a period that's a few days late, with some extra cramping.

It's best just to let nature do its thing.

I've had several miscarriages and two MMCs.

I appreciate you have health anxiety but you need to see it as it not surviving for a reason. It's just normal. It wasn't a viable embryo so your body has rejected it. Your body is doing what it thinks is right.
