To hate the new landline phones

Used to have a phone that plugged in, always worked even in power cuts. Was great for the kids to use in an emergency.

Thats now been switched off and for the past year or so we have cordless phones from BT which take ages to switch on and randomly turn off in the middle of a call.

Have looked and can’t seem to buy phones that plug into the wall/ router any more. Anyone got any advice please so we can just use the phone easily?

We use our old phone, plugged into our router. Go on eBay for an old handset. I refuse to use the new one that came with our server.

No advice, but I don't like them either. I had the same as you - basic plug in phone - and it's useless now in a power cut. Our cordless phone does plug into the back of the router, but obviously the router doesn't work without electricity.

This is the phone model we have which plugs into the router -

Thank you I’m going to investigate the back of the router!!

We had to contact BT for a replacement router as the old one didn't have a phone slot - it was sent quickly at no cost, and returning the old one was straightforward.

yes. My parents cordless landline phone broke/ wouldn’t ring and when I had a bad epileptic seizure at my new partners he couldn’t get through to my parents while I was being rushed to hospital.

parents felt awful (not their fault) and bought another phone but equally it’s temperamental and there’s been times when resetting the wifi hub it’s just randomly stopped working. We didn’t know until I lifted it and no dialling tone

our phone plugs into the router too and frequently breaks
