To be fed up of the house being trashed when DH has the kids?

It isn’t very often he has them and I hate it because whenever I go out somewhere I inevitably come back to a shitshow; toys strewn everywhere and food congealing in plates.

I don’t know if I’m being fussy. It worries me as DS is about to start school and twice a week DH will be collecting him and I feel like those days will just be a nightmare to clean up after.

Have you spoken to him about it?

Vaxtable · 11/06/2025 18:22

So when you get back just say ok now I’m back you can clean up

everyonestoohot · 11/06/2025 18:22

No, that’s why I’m asking on here first. I had a horrible commute back today, it’s very hot and I had a screaming toddler in the car! So I’ll admit I’m possibly overreacting. But while I don’t want or need a show home it’s just stressful.

If you come back to a mess, refuse to clean it up.

My DH is the same!!!’ I hate it. I clean as I go and tidy and I go out and come back to mess … I say it’s annoying and it’s improved a bit but not to how it should be!

TheSlantedOwl · 11/06/2025 18:25

Talk to him. Say, when I look after DC I tidy as I go. I’m not going to tidy up after you as soon as I come home. It has to be fair.

It only really bothers me though - so that’s just not really helpful!
