Where it is from, and if you're paying it off?
Does it worry you?
I have 500 on a CC, 500 on a personal loan, about 300 on an Argos card and 300 to a Monzo overdraft.

I also have my mortgage and student loan but not counting!
The above figures are what I've got it down to now and what's left to pay off.

No debt and mortgage free (also savings free, which isn't ideal!).

When I was younger I did end up with 5k on cc and another 5k owed to relatives, i really tried avoiding getting into debt after that.

pimplebum · 10/06/2025 15:03

4.5 overdraft
4k gas and electric
2.5 MIL loan
1.5 credit card
225k mortgage
225 rental mortgage shit Tennants but can’t afford to get them out

i am horrified never used to be in debt
had no money at all over half term totally terrifiing

Mortgage - £90k
Student loan - £12k, .
Credit card - £1.2k, but that's because it's 0% interest and I get loyalty card points for everything I spend on it, so I pay for everything with it. I pay off the whole balance every pay day, and then start accumulating debt on it again.

The student loan is never getting paid off, because I earn too little. The monthly deductions from my salary are always less than the monthly interest added to the loan.

What card is this I need to get one !

I really dont have any debt.
Many years ago i did i swore I'd never get in debt again.

That's fair enough but I agree with the PP this type of post, similarly to those asking about earnings mainly attract responses from people in good positions rather than bad.

£10k interest free loan for a new kitchen last year (was £20k).
Seemed a no brainer to get 3% interest on my savings and get a loan for the kitchen

Im honest about what i earn and my debt.
With anyone in any debt it can be sorted.

catlovingdoctor · 10/06/2025 15:18

6 figures in student loan debt, well over 100k
Approx 8k in credit card debt which I pay off reliably.

BarilynBordeaux · 10/06/2025 15:23

6k, interest free thank God, should be free of it this time next year.

Ponderingwindow · 10/06/2025 15:25

A mortgage and two car payments. I have the money to pay for the cars, but I earn more in interest than the loans so it makes sense to make payments.

we could probably just about pay off our mortgage too, but that would create cash flow issues and our rate is good.

RampantIvy · 10/06/2025 15:26

None, but I am old.

Redlocks30 · 10/06/2025 15:48

None any more-mortgage paid off recently in my mid 40s. We use a a credit card but pay it off every month.

We were lucky enough to be able to buy a house when they were vaguely affordable and go to university when it wasn't stupid money, so have no student loans.

lifeonthelane · 10/06/2025 16:11

240k left on the mortgage, 11k on interest free cc (from home improvements) and 17k personal loan for the family vehicle. I feel like it's all manageable - it was all for justifiable things (not frittered away) and we are one track to have the cc paid off in 2 years and the loan in 4. The mortgage is until we're 70 😅 we're both currently 35. We have a comfortable but not extravagant life (no eating out or foreign holidays, lots of camping trips and never worry about paying bills or affording decent food). I thought we were doing OK but it seems like loads compared to others on here!

DiscoBeat · 10/06/2025 16:15

No debts at all, thankfully!

tinytemper66 · 10/06/2025 16:27

£1000 on car loan left and I always pay my credit card off in full every month.

OxfordInkling · 10/06/2025 16:30

About £58k left on the mortgage.

Chocolateorange22 · 10/06/2025 16:40

Just the mortgage and student loan

I'm PT and not earning enough to pay student loan back at the moment. I think there's about 8 years left on it until it'll be wiped off.

SleeplessInWherever · 10/06/2025 16:48

Approx £28k total, mainly in loans plus one credit card. I do a student loan that may be paid off one day.

Leaving my ex husband a few years back cost me the earth, afterwards I had no real “safety net,” and things racked up fairly quickly.

Still very much in the financial recovery phase. In a fair better position now and everything is reliably paid, but would like to get to a point over the next few years where that figure drops dramatically.

Tesco, but I think the other major supermarkets do credit cards as well.

Verv · 10/06/2025 18:12

Mortgage, my car PCP and 150 on Next after buying some bedding on my account - i'll clear that off before next month.

I racked up a load of debt on student credit cards as a 20 y/o. Took years to pay it all off and since then i wont have a CC as dont trust myself.
Im annoyed though that the only thing impacting my credit score is not having a CC. 😤

Its only fucking up massively that taught me to be sensible so im not being "oh just my mort" smug about it

How much interest a month is being charged on the 30k?

A fairly hefty amount, have never added it up.
