To think a global pest control organisation should be able to deal with pests

So we have had an ongoing issue with rodents. 5 months ago we had some extensive drain repairs done to in theory close of their entry point. They are back, point to note is I have never seen one but heard them and very clear from drains survey and also have had the smell once they have died so I know they have not been a figment of my imagination.

I decided to go this time to what I assumed would be the gold plated pest control service so went to the biggest pest control company in the world.

They told me sorry we won't come out unless you have actually seen a rodent or a dropping, we won't come out because you can hear them, that is company policy.

This is ridiculous, I have heard so many stories of pests being under floor boards in wall cavities. This feels like they only want the easy jobs so they can probably claims a super high success rate. AIBU or does this feel that they should not claim to be experts if they can't deal with this.

Sounds like a great company

could have agreed and screwed you over in terms of charging for something they knew from the outset was never going to be successful

could you share the name as I will contact!

Yes it is totally up to them I get that and yes at least they haven't screwed me over, but don't profess to be the world's expert if you can't deal with this situation....

But perhaps this is the advice of a company that knows precisely what it’s doing

Get a local recommendation. They will probably be better anyway

I have 2 adult foster cats who are desperate for adoption if that is any help to you OP?

KrisAkabusi · 09/06/2025 19:35

So phone them back and tell them you saw one going into a drain!

Get a cat! Mine went straight for their entry point the day we moved in and we didn’t see the mice (unless DCat brought one in to play with).
