My laziness cost me a dream opportunity today.

I'm mid fifties abd have always been lazy.

Thought I'd turned it around, lost 10 stone, had a bit of a glow up and started the gym.

After some family trauma last year, my mind has not been in the right place and I've put a bit of heft back on and lost my desire to go to the gym etc.

DH (patient saint with me) and I went to a significant sporting event yesterday and I tried to speak to one special player ( have been trying post event for quite a few months) but didn't get the opportunity again.

But last night in the hotel we were staying in, walked past another player (flipping amazing player, world revered, had a chat with him) and went to bed all abuzz at meeting him.

This morning really couldn't be arsed to go down to the complimentary breakfast so did my usual "minor headache, not hungry, you go ahead".

And yes you guessed it, DH spotted this player who I've been trying to speak to for months on his way to check out.

So yes, could have met him bar my sloth like ways.

AIBU to think this should be enough to shake my low mood (6month plus now) grab the bull by the horns and get back to actually living life?

Oh it's a sport that actively encourages the players to chat to fans post match and we've chatted to many players before I this hotel, this is not stalkerosh behaviour, is just a brief passing and chat.

I’m slightly confused by the meeting players situation…

But as for the feeling low for 6 months and slipping off the gym stuff…I think you’re ‘get back to living’ is the way to go.

And if it’s this slightly strange incident that pushes you in the right direction then good!!!

You sound down on yourself (DH a saint to put up with you etc.)

You lost TEN STONE!!! That’s incredible and shows you have perseverance, strength and some grit about you!!! Get that motivation back as it’s clearly somewhere in there.

Good luck ❤️

You sound like you beat yourself up a lot. I wonder what life would be like if you were not so self-critical? You obviously can be motivated when things are right - rather than being so down on yourself when they are not, I would be recognizing what you are doing day to day and kindly encourage yourself towards what you want. I hope you feel better soon.
