I didn't know where else to post but I'm so fed up with buying new bras and then failing on me. I'm a 36G for reference.

Ive recently tried a lemonade dolls bra thinking it would be a game changer but my boobs continually fall out of it 😭
Bought 2 M&S plunge bras for wearing low cut tops but any slight bit of movement and I fall out of them.

I've tried from so many places and they either don't hold me in or the wire pokes out after a couple of wears.
Could someone please, please recommend a decent bra to me .....

I think it depends on whether you have big and perky boobs, or big and saggy heavy boobs. Because I have the latter but so many recommended bras for big boobs so often have, for example, quite thin straps that simply won’t support my bosom and cut into my shoulders no matter what.

I hate underwires as well, they cut into my tummy when I sit down, or dig into my ribs when I stand up.

You should try elomi morgan
or cate

Take yourself off to somewhere that has a good selection and will fit you up properly. John Lewis perhaps. I have a small independent department store near me and they are great at sorting me out with fab bras. I like Fantasie ones myself. I wash mine in the machine at 40 degrees and air dry them, they are lasting well, some are several years old possibly pre covid and still going strong. On a cost per wear basis they've worked out cheaper than anything from M&S. choose your colours/patterns carefully and they won't go grey!

Hopping on for some advice from the experts - does anyone know of brands where the underwire is shorter around the side?

I find them all so uncomfortable around the armpit. My boobs sit quite high so the underwire ends up digging into my armpit.

I guess I’m looking for wires that are more of a J shape than a U?!

You'll be wearing too big a back size.

youplaystupidgamesyouwinstupidprizes · 06/06/2025 22:49

Bravissimo def. It's a game changer. Expensive but worth it

ssd · 06/06/2025 22:52

Hand wash your underwired bras folks

Bunniemalone · 06/06/2025 22:59

Best bras I have found for all round support are Miss Mary of Sweden, they are pricey £50 ish but not as expensive as some. They do have ones with nice shaped padded straps, as I have a very heavy bust, my shoulders were hurting too. The back is shaped so the straps don't slip off. Very comfortable

PS... Hand wash every time, underwires & washing machines don't mix. Plus if you have spent a fortune on a bra makes sense to look after it!

Dinosweetpea · 06/06/2025 22:59

I'm the same size as you, I only ever buy Fantasie (try Brastop.co.uk as often cheaper) or almost anything at Bravissimo. You genuinely can't go wrong with Bravissimo.

The wires are poking out cos you're washing your bra in the machine instead of hand-washing them, its nothing to do with size

My bras survive machine washing with no problem. They are a few years old.

ToffeeSheep · 06/06/2025 23:03

I find Elomi, Fantasie & Freya are all good brands for a generous bosom!! As PPs have said, get measured & fitted properly - John Lewis can be good or a local independent store if there is one near you.

Snap i'm also 36G. I wear Fantasie bras as they are generally the most comfortable and don't turn the ladies into a nightmare shape.

Thanks! The Cate non-wired looks lovely but doesn’t seem to come in a 34 which is a shame.

You're wearing the wrong size then. The straps shouldn't be taking any strain at all. Mine regularly fall off my shoulders, all the lift is in the band and underwire. I am a heavy 32 HH and wear a Millie.

I’ve tried loads of different sizes and been measured a few times. I think I just have weird proportions. High set boobs 😭

I’m not. My boobs are just very heavy. I think technically I’m a 32 but that’s horribly tight and uncomfortable so I’m not wearing that, I wear a 34. And I don’t like underwired bras anymore.

JMSA · 06/06/2025 22:13

I hear SO many good things about Bravissimo. There should be plenty on Vinted if they’re a bit on the pricy side. Find out your size first, obviously! 🙂

I wouldn’t recommend a second hand bra to be honest. They likely will be stretched, and therefore no longer supportive.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/06/2025 23:29

Another vote for bravissimo Millie, and make sure you have the right size, the front yoke should be flush with your rib cage and no gaping in the cups.

i also like the bravissimo soft bra for lounging about the house, very comfy.

There are a couple of M&S bras that fit me perfectly, last forever and survive the washing machine.

I think being properly sized at R&P helped but fuck the £50 bra I bought nearly 25 years ago was the most uncomfortable bugger ever.

DoingItForTheKids25 · 06/06/2025 23:35

I'm the same size as you and have recently discovered Ann Summers plunge bras which have been brilliant for me! I buy via SimplyBe but obviously you can go direct

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 06/06/2025 22:35

34H here and only wear one bra… PrimaDonna Deauville. Very expensive but if you try it you will never buy any other. (I only buy in sales)

+1 from me. They are crazy expensive, like £100+ for the popular colours at full prize, but worth it and last for years. (And mine go in the washing machine as well!)

AllLopsided · 06/06/2025 23:43

I'm a 42 E (fat and yes I've measured properly). I like Elomi - you can buy online but Bravissimo might stock them. I was wearing Curvy Kate for a while then realised I needed higher sides to fit everything in. The Elomi Lucie plunge style works for me.

TaggieO · 06/06/2025 23:46

The bravissimo Millie doesn’t fit me well at all as my boobs are quite high, so it gives me a weird shape as the straps are quite far over on the cup. The Lacey bra is great though - it has more centrally placed straps.

Kirova · 06/06/2025 23:53

I'm a 32 AA and my ideal bra would make me look not flat-chested 😂All my bras come from the M&S little girls' section and they are so comfortable that I can't quite reconcile myself to trying something new, but I'd love to not look like a 12 year old!

ThePussy · 07/06/2025 00:28

I used to wear Fantasie but now buy Adella or Flirtelle from Brastop. The Adella plunge is the most comfortable bra I’ve ever had.

WillowKnicks · 07/06/2025 06:16

I'm a bra fitter & the VAST majority of ladies who come to us are wearing a bra that is too big in the back & too small in the cup & if you're falling out you're definitely wearing a cup that is too small. I'd hazard a guess you're 34H.

We don't use a tape measure, they don't work! When ladies say they are wearing a bra that was fitted by M&S we inwardly roll our eyes as they never fit.

Our best selling bra for larger cups is the Elomi Morgan, which works well for most ladies but you MUST get fitted properly first & NOT with a tape measure!
