my ex and i split in january after he was messaging prostitutes/other women and various other things

my family all live around 15 miles away, but make the effort to help and come see me

he doesn’t really see our children during the week, he works until 5:30 and they’re in bed usually for 7pm

he sees them on saturdays only at the moment until we discuss and sort a more solid routine now our family home has sold

my son is due to start school in september so i am feeling some pressure to get us all settled somewhere. i just don’t know whether to move closer to my family/my support network…or keep the kids living closer to their dad. my son has already been accepted to start a school where we live right now so would i need to reapply for the town id like to move to and i dont even know if thats possible!

am i awful for moving them further away from him?!

If he only sees them on a Saturday, I don't think moving 15 miles away is a problem. That is if your confident you will have family support. If an emergency arises would it be your family or ex you could rely on to pick the kids up from school?

I'd go for it then. If you search online for school admissions in the area you're moving to I think you will have a good chance of getting somewhere sorted for September. My DC starts in September and most of the schools still have spaces, I think there is a lower number needing a space this year because of the birth rate dropping during covid.
