Flounce or Mardy

Been on MN for many years, learnt an awful lot of important stuff from many contributors over the years:
now though, a woman who can’t order her own food, and; people being completely and obviously used by ‘friends’ to help them with childcare when the father won’t lift a finger.
there are so many more - women who really need to be given the strength and support to lead their own lives, and put their children first.

(fwiw my DH and I and DD all wore trainers to our wedding, and encouraged people to wear what they felt comfortable in, celebrating and happiness was our sentiment once we were married x)

I thought this was a baby name thread for a sec. Flounce and Mardy would be great for twins.

EmeraldRoulette · 06/06/2025 00:21

I thought this was going to be about naming kittens.

now concerned that someone can't order their own food

LaLaLaLavaChChChChicken · 06/06/2025 03:45

I was wondering if these were the new names for Farrow and Ball paint?
“No, no, Smithers, It’s Flounce in the drawing room, Mardy in the boudoir!”

Other than that, can you try again using less words and more point?

Hilarious! I thought that it was fancy new paint colours.

I chuck my phone to the other side of the sofa sometimes, get fed up of reading post after post, the posts from some are just ridiculous the amount of disrespectthey handle on a day to day, makes me despair with sadness for them how these people actually function in life.

SunsetCocktails · 06/06/2025 10:38

I thought this was going to be a which term do you prefer thread. I prefer mardy, have been known to use that one once in a while

Anyway, I read the thread about the woman not being able to order her own food. There’s one on here this morning from someone who isn’t even allowed to read or own books. Blows my mind sometimes just how despicable some men are and the women who accept it for years

MorrisZapp · 06/06/2025 10:41

Nobody in Scotland says mardy. I read in a book once that being late was 'tardy', maybe that can get in the mix too?

achangeofnameisasgoodasarest · 06/06/2025 10:43

utterly thought this was a baby names thread. That's made my day. As children we used to say 'she's got a bag on' when people were mardy (though we also said mardy). Perhaps I need to bring that back
