If you found out that a previous tenant was paying nearly £200 less than you are when they moved out a month ago? No improvements made to the home or anything like that.

No. They might have been in for several years with the rent agreed at the beginning of the tenancy and not had a market increase in that time.

Seems pretty normal. It's standard where I am for the rent to increase every year and be adjusted upwards for new tenants. It sucks, but it's the reality of renting.

Well being annoyed doesn't make the difference vanish and were they paying market rate for the area? Or less than?

We’ve lived in our rental 9 years, minimal rent increases over that time. If we were to move we would pay significantly more for the same property type and I would expect this to be relet at a good few hundred pound more then now but as we are good tenants, looks after the property and pay on time the LL is happy we are.
