To feel pleased I didn’t act on this yesterday

I work for a brand and we are always looking for content creators/ influencers to work with. On my personal IG I’ve been following an account for a couple of years and had realised this person was now really aligned with the brand I work for and I was going to bring this up at our next meeting as part of my role is identifying potential partnerships.
I was chatting to a colleague yesterday and nearly mentioned it then but we got sidetracked and I didn’t but still planned to at the meeting.

I’ve commented on this persons account lots , never had an issue at all. Today I commented and their next post was an absolute rant - clearly directed at me for asking a (quite boring) question !

Im still wondering AIBU to feel glad I didn’t mention them yet but also feeling a bit petty ? As really they’d be an amazing person/account to work with but I can’t seem to put my personal feelings aside now that they were really rude !

If they're really rude they aren't a great person for your brand to work with, working with them will come with a large risk of brand damage if they're promoting your brand and are then rude to people at the same time......

YANBU imagine this happened after you suggested them! Some influencers are so cheeky, they just assume everyone is being rude.

And should anyone else ever suggest them, you can say how rude they were. It's not a good look and shows they're not very bright.

Good timing I guess really, just odd as not had or seen any issues like this before. I was really hoping it might have been a good person for us to approach but I’ll have to see it as a lucky escape.

That is a real shame if they otherwise has a good reputation. Maybe had a bad day but that's no excuse.

Shame you can't have a "Big mistake. Huge!" moment with this person. That would be so satisfying

I genuinely feel quite deflated and disappointed! Wasn’t what I expected at all a really uncalled for rant after a very normal and non threatening question !

It's good they did this though. Imagine if you had to deal with someone capable of being so awful on the regular. This did you a massive favour

Just something really boring about school fines and holidays ? Nothing directed unkindly at them just a general question. Then next post was a long paragraph rant clearly about that

I just unfollowed and decided to chalk it up to experience. I just felt so overwhelmingly disappointed though as really felt I’d found someone extremely promising.

I think as well, selfishly there’s an element of frustration for me as I’m relatively new in this role and I wanted to impress !

Why are you wondering? It seems fairly obvious to me. Perhaps you sheltered them know they have missed an interesting opportunity by being so unpleasant, although they probably won't believe you.

Actually, you had a lucky escape! Imagine if you'd introduced this person as a really great potential contact, then she'd shown her true colours. You would have looked as though you have poor judgement and certainly wouldn't have impressed.

Was it one of those muppets from rightguys reviews?
