To ask you how to stop pigeons from pooing all over my garden.

I have lots of hedges and shrubs in my garden where small birds usually nest. In recent days my garden is now visited by lots of huge pigeons and they have been pooing all over my pots and on my lawn. How do I deter them?

Noise cans tied to the washing line

Regularly throw lots of bird seed into your neighbours' gardens... 😉

TheAutumnCrow · 03/06/2025 18:01

Is one of your neighbours feeding the birds? We've had to give up for a while with our bird table because the local feral pigeons have been muscling in (in numbers) and making a right mess.

Spaceman101 · 03/06/2025 20:19

Can you install some bird spikes as a deterent anywhere?

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 03/06/2025 20:20

Hose..
Ime.

I'd like to know too! Only this year they seem to love my garden, constantly pecking the lawn and crapping all over the place. Don't get it from any other birds, just the pigeons

I could have written this post myself OP! So much pigeon shit in my garden and I actually have to do a poo patrol and use a poop scoop to get it off the lawn. It’s huge and so gross.

I did a patrol and scooped up loads today. It's disgusting and I'm wary of my toddler touching it. I have ordered these shiny reflective hanging discs from amazon to hang around the garden. If they work, once they arrive then I will share the link on here.

Yes the big fat pigeons seem to basically chase out the little birds.

What we have found helps with feeding the birds is we have those anti squirrel feeders that also work as anti fat birds as anything heavier than say robins set it off to drop the cage and the lift the food.

If it’s not you feeding to start with then yes shiny things, a kite kite can help also.

I have had tiny little birds in the hedges for ages and they never leave huge turds around the entire garden. I enjoy watching them go about their day so I don't want to deter them but the huge pigeons are a real menace.
