To wonder what it is like to live in Glastonbury

I went to Glastonbury town this weekend. So many people of a certain age looking , in all honesty, utterly ridiculous ( pixie ears anybody?) but very happy. AIBU to think that it could be a good place to live?

You would have to be of a certain type I think. Although apparently there is a lot of poverty there too.

Last time I visited my thought was that the shops were great if you needed a wand and a couple of crystals. Not so great if you wanted a few everyday basics.

Loads of totally ordinary people live in Glastonbury. Street with normal shops is only a couple of miles away no need to go near Glastonbury town centre

I would love to live there, Glastonbury Tor nearby and the alternative shops

Every time there’s a thread on MN about places which feel weirdly spooky and bad, Glastonbury seems to be top pick. Clearly not everyone’s cup of tea!

Anyone been to Totnes in Devon, it's quite similar but not as pretty as Glastonbury..

SilviaSnuffleBum · 02/06/2025 18:45

I hated living there.

Totnes shops at the top of the hill were brilliant and quirky, but oh that hill!!! 😅

I live fairly close to Glastonbury, and honestly can’t remember the last time I went there except to drive through on the way somewhere else. It’s a touristy, weird place.

Glastonbury Abbey is lovely.
The shops and tat are for tourists.

Close family member lives there and always has. Not much in the way of jobs etc and a lot of wanna be alternatives. Not a lot to do and not much for younger kids and teens
