Teacher pay

Seeing a lot online at the moment about teacher pay increases being unreasonable. I think teachers do a lot in society and a lot of what is expected of teachers appears to be out with their paid hours.

Am I being unreasonable to think they deserve a pay rise in like with inflation?
(FULL DISCLOSURE - I am not a teacher but I have children in a school and I volunteer on a PTA)

Why didn't they give you 2 classes of 27, out of interest? Don't most state schools have upto 30 in a class?? (And I've had English classes with more than 30 pupils actually).

The workshops only have spaces for 24 pupils.
Although I have had 30 in one class but it meant that 6 pupils couldn't do any work, which was repeatedly explained to the management when they complained about lack of engagement.
There are also H&S issues with classes over 24 and DATA guidelines about practical working areas in schools which are just ignored.

"just goes to show you have no idea how a school runs!"

"OMG Resign your post now how dare you"

"oh sweetheart, bless you, i actually do x, y and z"

All in response not to goads, but genuine questions and points of view expressed in a calm, collected, way

And thats just in the first couple of pages.

That's just the tone of AIBU.

And to be honest teachers do get pissed off with with the world and heir wife knowing better then them what their job entails...

There’s at least one (now deleted) personal attack on a teacher here too - would be silly to extrapolate from that that parents have a PR problem though (another, more general attack).

Nearly correct. 2 top sets of decent size, 2 nice manageable A level sets and a relatively dinky further maths set.
Sadly, I don’t set the reporting schedule in school - we are beholden to the ideals of SLT, many of whom have minimal teaching contact. I totally agree, utterly bonkers to have them all at the same time. I’d rather have parents’ evenings. Having said that, I’m very concise when reporting back on exam papers so whilst time consuming and of questionable value, I feel pretty efficient 😂
