People like F1 drivers (I assume it's part of contract so paid by company but still)
Offshore rig workers
Miners
Roofers
And so on

Anyone can enlighten me?

I just had a look how much it would cost me for 500k cover😂 Man... I don't even do anything risky and am healthy!

I have no idea, but my husband has a 500k life insurance policy paid for by his very risky job. We often joke about faking his death haha.

It very age dependent. I have a £500k life insurance which I took out pre-kids so early 30s annd lasts 25 yrs - it cost £350 a year. If I took it now though it would be much more.

The types of professions you mention will be covered by group policies (apart from F1 drivers perhaps) so they tend to be cheaper as covering lots of people at once.

My DH works in one of the jobs mentioned. Our life and critical illness covers pretty much every eventuality for all of us, including the kids. It's £50-something a month.

It costs enough - often prohibitively so - for ordinary people with various medical conditions and circumstances; so the cost for a celeb F1 racing driver must be insane.

Then again, the sport is so extremely wealthy that they could probably just self-insure for their drivers. Same with the oil companies for offshore rig workers.

My bil does a high risk job, he gets £500k paid for by his employer plus 4 x salary (which is high). My dd is armed forces, they have cover via our taxes (and non contributory pension) but their mortgage life cover wasn’t horrendous, £30 a month for £250k, I think that despite sounding dangerous, deaths in the armed forces are lower than occupations like farming, local news has way too many accidents on farms

40 for life assurance and critical illness cover. Medically underwritten for life too.

It’s a snapshot on your life at the time you take on cover, if you suddenly take on motorsport at later time it won’t affect premium
