To remove their clothes…?

My washing machine is broken and my husband tried to fix it so I’ve taken a suitcase full of dirty laundry to a laundry place to do it there. There are 4 machines - one is out of service, one is working and 2 others are finished and full of wet clothes.
I’ve been waiting 30 mins but nobody has come to take them. AIBU to take them out and place them in separate bags (I’ve got big laundry bags with me) so I can get on with my laundry?
I genuinely don’t know if that would be a really rude thing to do, or if it’s an acceptable practice in these places.
Would you be pissed off if I did that? Should I wait until they show up?

I wouldn't have waited 30 minutes. It is rude of them to not be back to remove their laundry. Take it out and get on with your washing.

Do it and let us know what happens.

(I think it's fine)

I would have removed it after 5 minutes. Their problem if they weren’t back in time.

On a cruise ship that washing would have been out of the machine as soon as it stopped.😂

Perfectly reasonable to take it out of the machine.

FeralWoman · 31/05/2025 12:43

Definitely take it out. They should have left a basket or bag to put it in. Just put it somewhere clean and get on with your washing. Next time wait 5 mins max.

Aren’t there baskets there? Round here if you’re not around and your machine stops, you dump their washing in a basket and use the machine. I can’t believe you waited 30 minutes 😦

Wow! Thank you for the replies! I tortured myself for another 15 mins, went to take them out and a young lad rocked up and was so sweet that I couldn’t say anything! I now know the etiquette and shall have no qualms in removing clothes in the future!
