Is this a feature of abusive families?

Treating a child ‘young’ for their age - being babying or patronising to the point of cringe

Then - a relatively short time later few months etc a parent being VERY AGGRESSIVE to a child when they can’t get what they what or parent is finding things ‘difficult’ in some way?

It all ties together though - a dislike and total lack of belief in the child to ever manage something/be capable of doing something so they have to be babied, and then distain when they naturally can't do anything because they haven't been taught and are now too shut down and scared to try even though the poor child will desperately want to please their abusive adult. It's heartbreaking.

Well I am 50 and I'm sure my parents would still try this on to an extent had I not gone NC years ago. Definitely was a feature of my childhood, which extended into adulthood before I said enough and cut them off.

In my experience yes.

Well done for saying “enough’s enough” ❤️💪
