AIBU to have came back home with my son?

Weird one but today my mum asked me and my son (2) to sleep hers tonight.

My dad picked me and my son up and went to my mum’s. My mum and my dad aren't together but have stayed friends and see each other most days.

My mum has a double bed and a sofa. Usually me and my son sleep in the bed and my mum on the sofa when we stay over.

My dad stayed with us longer than usual today, as he usually goes back to his house.

I put my son to bed and went downstairs to my parents. My dad hinted that he was going to stay, went upstairs and fell sleep in bed with my son, meaning me and my mum would have had to both sleep on the sofa.

I called a taxi as my dad said he wasn’t very well. I got my son out of bed and came home.

Do you think I was unreasonable to have left? The sleeping arrangement just wouldn’t have worked out.

Someone needed to turf your dad out of your mum's bed.

Cheeky sod.

FortyElephants · 29/05/2025 21:53

Of course not. Why would you even sleep over if your home is only a taxi ride away?

Drummend01 · 29/05/2025 23:00

No not unreasonable, especially if dad wasn’t feeling well. I wouldn’t have wanted my child sleeping next to someone who is ill. I prefer the comfort of my own home anyway.

Has Mum or dad said something to you about why you left?

DelphiniumBlue · 29/05/2025 23:26

2 people sleeping on a sofa?? Not for me.
And ill DF next to baby?
No, you did the right thing if you were hoping to get any sleep and to avoid baby getting unwell.

In general, or in this scenario? If in general, because sometimes people with kids do stay at the parents house, to spend time with them and for the kids to spend time with GP. Kids often enjoy waking up in GP house and seeing them for breakfast etc

Your sick dad got in bed with your child?
It seems weird that he did that and that he wouldn't decide not to visit as he was unwell and tired.
Is his selfishness and poor decision making behind their divorce.

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/05/2025 00:15

Was this a really clumsy way of your parents trying to tell you that they are back together?

Otherwise there is no one good reason I can think of for this.

Tbry24 · 30/05/2025 00:43

Are your parents back together?

MoonWoman69 · 30/05/2025 18:24

This is all a bit bizarre! Why wouldn't you go home? It's not like you live 300 miles away! Very strange!

Are you a teen mum?

Youd have to pay me to sleep in my mums bed, especially sharing it with my toddler who has a sleep routine.

And I love my dad but I wouldn’t want him asleep with my child in the same bed. Even more so when ill.

Very strange OP - all of it.

Blablibladirladada · 30/05/2025 19:24

Of course not, your dad was unwell…

Laura95167 · 30/05/2025 21:07

You dad who isn't married to your mum invited himself to go sleep in her bed? And your mum was just like fine we can share the sofa?

Maybe they wish they were still together

Wombatboymom · 30/05/2025 23:11

This is utterly bizarre. Why would your dad share a bed with your child? That’s so strange - an absolute no for me (whether or not they are sick).

Why are grown adults sleeping on sofas, let alone sharing sofas.

YABU for letting someone who isn’t you share a bed with your child.

Tigergirl80 · 19/08/2025 17:51

My mum passed away over 18 years ago. But there’s no way my mum would have been sleeping on the sofa so I can have her bed anyway.

MadisonMarieParksValetta · 19/08/2025 18:22

This was in May.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 19/08/2025 18:25

Mum and dad are still shagging
