Is it a bald patch?!

workingcocker · 27/05/2025 21:38

Paint?

Ilovemyshed · 27/05/2025 21:38

Is it on his fur or missing fur? Hard to see.

OhDeerohDeerie · 27/05/2025 21:38

A bald patch? The surrounding fur isn’t affected, doesn’t smell different, no sign of injury , bleeding etc?

eating and drinking ok?

Lionduck · 27/05/2025 21:38

Is it a bald patch? Sorry, hard to see well. If so it could be a reaction to flea and tock spot on treatments.

socks1107 · 27/05/2025 21:39

If it’s a bald patch it could be excema. My cat gets this and it heals by itself. Vet said if it ever looks sore or weepy they can treat him but it’s never been that bad - it comes and goes sometimes with up to a year in between flair ups

hereismydog · 27/05/2025 21:42

Little bald spot.

Could be from flea prevention treatments, could have been in a scuffle with another cat.

Or, he could be like my own boy who kept coming home with a very similar bald spot and had me scratching my head over what was causing it until I saw him squeeze his rather large frame through a rather small gap in the fence because he was too lazy to climb it! Fur on the fence!

crackadawn · 27/05/2025 21:43

Complete bald patch, no redness

Eating and drinking fine, happy in himself.

He's an outdoor cat, doesn't seemed like he's been fighting or it's been bald because the lines are so straight

Caerulea · 27/05/2025 21:44

Could it be there's been a scab for a while that's finally fallen off?

AlteredStater · 27/05/2025 21:45

He may have had a long scratch there from a fight or injury and the skin has healed but fur not yet grown back. Mine have had similar.

crackadawn · 27/05/2025 21:45

I'll check fencing @hereismydog

Couple more pics, skin is lovely and completely unirritated

Shaved?
There were spates of cats being shaved in Lincolnshire and Kent in recent years

crackadawn · 27/05/2025 21:47

It looks shaven!

It looks shaven!

I was going to say deliberately shaven. My cat has a skin condition and has occasional bald patches but the edges never as clean as them

Panterusblackish · 27/05/2025 21:50

Oh this is odd. The cleaner at work had exactly the same with her cat. A bald patch suddenly appeared but no redness.

She thought someone might have shaved the cat.

crackadawn · 27/05/2025 21:59

What the hell is wrong with people

OP posts:
hereismydog · 27/05/2025 22:09

Nah doesn’t look shaved, you’d need a wet razor to get that close to the skin, and I can’t imagine many cats letting a stranger do that to them! That fur has been pulled out, not shaved off.

hereismydog · 27/05/2025 22:12

Also his colouring reminds me so much of my darling old boy who crossed the bridge 8 years ago ❤️

Your cat has been shaved by someone. Report it to the RSPCA and the police in case others have been targeted.

Cherrysoup · 27/05/2025 22:15

Scab has fallen off, I’ve seen this so many times over the years with my dogs/cats. Probably scraped himself under a fence/on a branch.

kidsanddogs10 · 27/05/2025 22:25

My cat had this recently- he’d got a blob of sap from a tree attached to him, then a few days later I noticed a bald patch where he’d clearly pulled or licked the clump off! Could be that if he’s an outdoor cat… lots of sap round at the moment!

kidsanddogs10 · 27/05/2025 22:26

Just seen you’ve said he’s outdoor - if I hadn’t had seen the sap earlier I honestly wouldn’t have had a clue 😆

TheCoralMoose · 27/05/2025 23:36

It looks like missing fur.
One of my now late cats who was all black had a missing patch on her side from when she was spayed.
It never grew back.
The neighbours called her the cat with the patch.
