To ask if anyone has found reasonably priced insurance for thatched property?

Renewal quote has just come in for buildings and contents for a smallish detached three bedroom thatched house - £1500.

We do have a wood burner but have never claimed for anything under insurance.

Can anyone suggest a broker who might be cheaper please?

You can ask the www.biba.org.uk/ to help you find a specialist broker. In the end we got insurance through NFU Mutual, but not cheap.

That does seem quite high. We pay slightly less for 4 bed thatch including the surcharges for log burners, being very close to a stream and having trees 'too close to the house' We have set an excess of £2k though.
