Hi

I have had the most horrible burning scalp
sensation for a few weeks . Saw a doctor this week and prescribed pregalin?

I know it’s early days but I am so worried it means hair loss .

Had bloods taken for autoimmune and all negative .
Pain is making me cry .

Dr said only a patch of mild inflammation but no evidence of hair loss

Age 55

There are may reasons for this but have you considered stress? This often happens to me when really stressed.

Betnovate do a liquid steroid solution specially for scalps. It is only available on prescription so perhaps it is worth asking the doctor for it? It has helped me when I had similar.

Laserwho Yes I am extremely stesssed just now but it happens when I am not thinking about it too much. Ibuprofen is helping a bit which means inflammation hence I am worried re hair loss

Oh I am pleased Viv45 - it really calms inflammation and does it very quickly too! If I feel any sort of burning on my scalp I use it straight away.

TVStanding Thanks . Is your hair ok ?

I havr psoriases on my scalp and so use betnovate scalp treatment on it. Its quite a strong steroid and will sting a bit but it does help with inflamation. My flare ups usually occur with stress but it helps calm the scalp

Viv45 · 25/05/2025 21:41

PayrollSSP Thank you I will ask for this tomorrow

TVStanding Thanks . Is your hair ok ?

Hi Viv - yes it is ok thank you (touch wood) it has been thinner in the past (only noticeable to me) but it's been fine since Betnovate as it knocked out any inflammation. (More recently Estrogen made it much thicker too which is great!)
