Today it feels like autumn or winter. It's about 18C here. My forecast for the next week is pitcured here. Also you can see the seasonal averages for my area.

It’s fabulous here in Ireland for weeks.

The weather forecast can only really tell about 3 days ahead, maximum rough idea 7 days and anything after that is total guessing. (In my opinion)

June July and August to follow.

Way too early to call this.

Letstheriveranswer · 24/05/2025 12:05

There's an old expression, Ne'er cast a clout till May is out'.

Meaning don't shed winter clothes until it is June. We've just been exceptionally lucky to have had such a sunny spring!

Our warm weather season in the UK is really very short and out of kilter with the day lengthening. June, July, and then by August the days are already getting shorter again.

But it's not June yet so don't give up hope!

EmeraldRoulette · 24/05/2025 12:21

18 isn't autumn or winter, they're much colder.

Foodfiend2025 · 24/05/2025 12:24

Slight exaggeration on it being Winter temps! It's definitely milder today but still 20c in SE. Still all of June, July and August left for a full on Summer.

MrsSlocombesCat · 24/05/2025 12:25

It's snowed in June before. Our weather is unpredictable. This time next week there could be a heatwave. Or snow.

fourelementary · 24/05/2025 12:25

18 is summer here in Scotland. Stop moaning FFS summer hadn’t even begun!

ZenNudist · 24/05/2025 12:28

It's just weather. I'm sure it will get hot again in July and August

PumpkinPie2016 · 24/05/2025 12:30

I'm not giving up hope of more nice weather yet - its only May.

It's been glorious here (Greater Manchester) for weeks. It rained last night and more due this afternoon but its warm outside.

To be honest, I am glad of some rain- plants/grass were getting parched and I am not on mains water - the well has held up but we have been rationed for weeks to achieve that!

StMarie4me · 24/05/2025 12:32

It’s not even Sumner yet. Still a month of Spring nearly. Don’t be ridiculous.

ThatFlyIsMySpiritAnimal · 24/05/2025 12:33

What? It’s May, there’s months of summer to go. It’s 10 degrees here and we’re getting 50mph winds tomorrow so count your blessings.

WaltzingWaters · 24/05/2025 12:33

I’m worried that’s it after the past couple years experience. But I’m really really hoping I’m wrong! I’m okay with a week of rain - got lots of jobs to catch up on in the house which I haven’t done when I’ve been making the most of the weather. But after that, sunshine again please!!

I know. It’s feckin’ fabulous here on the WAW. ☀️

Divebar2021 · 24/05/2025 12:37

We’ve had weeks and weeks of absolutely glorious weather and we have a few unsettled days and you go into some spiral of negativity. Our forecast is showing sunshine from Thursday and then a weekend of 23 / 24 degrees.

TheHillsIsLonely · 24/05/2025 12:44

We have been so lucky to have unseasonably sunny, warm and dry settled weather on the whole here since the beginning of March. I for one could get used to that! It has been like unexpectedly spending an extended time in southern Europe. But the reservoirs, rivers, wildlife, countryside and our gardens badly need rain and so I'm glad to see it.

I think that there will be dry and sunny spells in between the rain on at least some of the days immediately ahead, and the summer is yet to come. It can't be worst than last year's!

NeverDropYourMooncup · 24/05/2025 12:54

It's the end of May and it's been a bit drizzly this morning where I am (thermostat's still showing 22 Celsius, though) with a few days of slightly more likely rain than the last couple of months before it gets warmer again next weekend. Hardly the next Ice Age coming, is it?

Are you one of the people who declare after ten weeks of excessive heat that because there's been two days in August that aren't quite so stifling that it's been a shit summer and you might as well get the blankets and hot chocolate out?

A bit off topic but -no, it doesn’t! The ‘May’ in this saying means May blossom, the blossom of the hawthorn tree, so it means don’t start dressing for warmer weather until the May blossom flowers.

which is usually in May, but could be earlier.

Renabrook · 24/05/2025 13:08

It's not summer innit

Carlow Weather Man. (My guru) is tentatively predicting a beautiful start to June and he's brilliant.

steff13 · 24/05/2025 13:10

It's spring. I don't know how y'all decide when it's summer, but in the US the first day of summer is June 20th.

CoubousAndTourmalet · 24/05/2025 13:14

Oh I really hope you're right and that was summer, over and done with.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 24/05/2025 13:15

My dad said the other day that it's still spring. I wanted to say that I had started wearing summer clothes, but i looked out of the window and saw it was raining, and 13 degrees. Yep, definitely still spring.

PickANumber · 24/05/2025 13:15

Come back mid Aug
Its only May

IveGotAnUnusuallyLargePelvisISwear · 24/05/2025 13:16

According to those pics you’re not predicted rain next week whereas where I live it’s going to be way cooler and pissing it down. So yes YABU. And ungrateful. Because it’s half term here next week and my cheap/free ideas won’t work if it rains.

edited to correct my mistake: you’re predicted rain next week which sucks. Serves me right for trying to type and feed and burp the baby at the same time. Sorry.
