Today it feels like autumn or winter. It's about 18C here. My forecast for the next week is pitcured here. Also you can see the seasonal averages for my area.

It is been beautiful in yorkshire for weeks. I have managed to get a lot done in the garden. I don't mind some rain and next weekend is looking nice. I will only start moaning about the rain if it decides to chuck it down for months on end. I don't want 30 c for weeks though. A nice 20 c suits me.

wordywitch · 24/05/2025 13:23

Jesus wept, some people are never happy unless they’re whingeing. Best spring weather we’ve had in many years and one cooler day has you complaining. And it’s not even summer yet! Snap out of it.

Blackcountrychik83 · 24/05/2025 13:23

A bit dramatical don’t you think ?!
1 slightly not as nice day to the rest of about 6 weeks worth of sun we’ve had and you’re writing off summer ….

Im sure the farmers and our gardens will be hoping for more of these days !

nosyupnorth · 24/05/2025 13:30

I'm confused. Did you attach the wrong screenshots, because the ones you've posted show that every day except Friday is forecast to be above average temperature. And RIP summer? We've still got a month of spring to go!

Maybe your brain is overheated.

Asuitablecat · 24/05/2025 13:46

I'm a bit gutted cos I've worked through all the nice weather and now it's half term. Garden needs a proper downpour though. Last night has barely touched it.

18 today and I'm in shorts and big hood. Not warm enough for sitting out, but OK for jobs.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 24/05/2025 13:53

It was 24 degrees here this week, and our team had a farewell beer for a departing colleague outdoors on Thursday evening. Yesterday it was down to 11 degrees and today it is slightly warmer (14) but pouring rain.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 24/05/2025 14:10

We need rain where we are. We’ve had reports of reservoirs running low from our water supplier and the grass is all yellow and parched.

Summer doesn’t start until 21st June so we’re still technically in spring. We’ve been having hot spells in spring over the past few years. It’ll go hot again in June/July I reckon and we always have a warm sunny spell in September (when I stupidly pack my summer clothes away and then have to either unpack it all from the vacuum pack case or suffer and sweat like a pig).

XWKD · 24/05/2025 14:14

In Ireland May 1st is the traditional start of summer. That way all the days are longer than the days of spring and autumn, as the solstice takes place right in the middle.

PoopingAllTheWay · 24/05/2025 14:15

Its MAY

Mudflaps · 24/05/2025 14:18

Sweetpea232 · 24/05/2025 12:58

A bit off topic but -no, it doesn’t! The ‘May’ in this saying means May blossom, the blossom of the hawthorn tree, so it means don’t start dressing for warmer weather until the May blossom flowers.

which is usually in May, but could be earlier.

Thank you, its a pet hate of mine when people think/say that the saying refers to the month of May and not the May flower.

spoonbillstretford · 24/05/2025 14:23

Don't be so bloody daft, it's all normal summer weather and we desperately need some rain after an usually long dry period.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 24/05/2025 15:28
Over It Sigh GIF

It'll be hot again soon, so hot that you'll sweat from standing up and sleep will be impossible

sigh

yabu 😄

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 24/05/2025 16:21

Not as hot as it has been not my garden and allotment are very grateful for the rain overnight and it is still warm today. I've spent today in a long skirt and linen shirt and I handed the bifolds wide open.

ExercicenformedeZ · 24/05/2025 16:24

What a ridiculous post! Last summer was foul, but we have had almost three months of glorious weather, the latter half of March was beautiful as well as practically the whole of April and May has been amazing. The ground needs rain. I bet we have a really gorgeous, scorching summer.

Hufflemuff · 24/05/2025 16:40

On Friday its back to sunny skies and stays sunny till Wednesday here! 20c

ToKittyornottoKitty · 24/05/2025 16:41

Give over it’s only May. And since when do we have 18 degree winters here?!

Notlookingforwardtosummer · 24/05/2025 16:43

Meteorological it’s still Spring and 18c is a great temperature for Spring.

Shitmonger · 24/05/2025 16:49

Chin up OP, it could be worse. It has been 7°-12° in the NE US and this weekend is a bank holiday for them, the one that they view as a sort of summer kickoff. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Americans so glum as they have been this past week looking at the forecast. They’re usually so cheerful! 🥲

TiswasPhantomFlanFlinger · 24/05/2025 16:57

Way too early to say that summer is over. Meteorological summer isn’t until the 1st of June.
Wher I am (SE England) today the high is 21 vs an average of 17 for this time of year.
Norfolk today 21, average 15.
NE Scotland today 15, average 12.

JohnTheRevelator · 24/05/2025 17:02

I hardly think 18 degrees is a winter temperature! You mark my words,it WILL get hotter. It would suit me if it was 20/22 degrees all year round. You can probably tell that I'm not a hot weather lover!

Dahliasrule · 24/05/2025 17:03

Just feel sorry for DGD’s boyfriend’s parents who arrived today for a week from southern Spain. First visit anywhere abroad. I just hope rain holds off as they do all their sightseeing.

SpookyMcTaggart · 24/05/2025 17:08

Compared with last year, this spring has been fantastic. Lots of sunshine and beautiful wildflowers and blossom. Last year it basically rained non stop, we had about five warm sunny days in the whole summer.

It's only May - four good months still to come. As for weather forecasts, ignore any predictions beyond five days.

Gustavo77 · 24/05/2025 17:09

Oh I hope so! 🤞 It's been cooler and showery here today, utter bliss after the miserable heat

TheyFuckYouUpYourMamAndDad · 24/05/2025 17:09

22 degrees here today…but overcast and muggy. It’s not summer yet though so I’m not calling it…ever hopeful that come the end of July (when I really need the weather to be nice as I break up) that it will be glorious 🤣🕶️🌞

romdowa · 24/05/2025 17:10

It's lashing rain here and as a woman who's 35 weeks pregnant, I'm loving it! I struggled so much the last few weeks in the heat
