We already have an Ava.

@Roo0611
Love Erin.
Erin Martin ❤️

Abitofalark · 21/05/2025 14:31

Matilda, Amelia, Emma, Emmeline, Mildred, Milly, Madeleine, Marina - starting with letter M, or an M sound or close to it and harmonising with Martin.

Roo0611 · 21/05/2025 14:51

@Abitofalark we did consider Emmie - and haven’t discounted it!

No one thinks it's actually pronounced MaevA, we're saying that when we said the two names out loud to ourselves, we automatically said "Ava and Maeva".

mixedcereal · 21/05/2025 15:29

Love Erin

Barnbrack · 21/05/2025 15:30

Vote for mabel here

LavenderBlue19 · 21/05/2025 15:39

I also automatically said 'Ava and MaevA'. It just sounds weird if you say Maeve after Ava, like you've stopped too soon.

I like Mabel Martin, good name.

@ThunderSnacks i love Mabel but the surname is Martin so wasn’t sure about Mabel Martin?

Maeve Martin doesn't sound particularly great, either.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 21/05/2025 15:53

No, very different unless you start referring to them as 'Ave and Maeve!'

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 21/05/2025 15:54

Love the name Maeve

JifNtGif · 21/05/2025 15:56

These days there isn't rationing on letters, try to use a few more

Lins77 · 21/05/2025 16:00

I'm not sure, maybe.

You have to consider that (particularly if you just have the two children) people will be saying Ava'n'Maeve or Maeve'n'Ava and the latter in particular sounds a bit odd.

Not sure it's a deal breaker, though, if you really like the name.

2024BabyNameIndecision · 21/05/2025 16:02

I have an Erin and i think Erin Martin sounds great. I also like Alice but then you'd have two daughters with names starting with the same letter, which I'm not too keen on.

We considered Maeve for DD2 and changed our minds after meeting 3 others in the first two weeks after she was born - but not everyone minds that sort of thing so depends on how you feel.

zingally · 21/05/2025 16:41

Yeah, they're a bit too similar.

Imagine shouting for them across a park. All they'll hear is that long A sound.

Tangled123 · 21/05/2025 16:47

My neighbours have an Ava and Maya. I think Ava and Maeve are ok though.

bridgetreilly · 21/05/2025 17:01

How about Maud?

WhySoManySocks · 21/05/2025 17:04

Mavel Martin sounds like an alias of a superhero, strong Peter Parker vibes.

I love Mabel Martin - and Ava and Mabel go great together.

SaintNoMountainHighEnough · 21/05/2025 17:13

My girls are Freya and Thea. In hindsight, too similar.
