This may well be be the dumbest post you will read today and I desperately need someone to reassure me that glitches in the matrix, Mandela Effect and rips in the fabric of time exist...

So the other night I was rewatching the last ever episode of Succession and if you have Sky on demand, then you know that the next episode will start playing at the end.

Because it was the last episode, I assumed that the next episode would restart at the very beginning - only it played the very last episode which was E10 - for the last 2 years I thought that E9 was the very last one 🫣 . I could have sworn that the last season was a 9 episode series and the way it ended was chaotic, nobody got what they wanted , and I just assumed that was in-keeping with the general vibe of the show being about a bunch of super wealthy, awful but very funny people and it ended the funeral of the main oligarch. I can not actually believe I was this stupid especially since I loved this show so much.

How could I have missed this for so long 😳😩.

I sympathise because back in the days of DVDs my (then) boyfriend and I watched one of the Godfather films. Weird beginning, hard to follow, mercifully quite short, I thought at the end (those films aren’t my cup of tea). Found out years later it was across 2 DVDs and we’d only watched the second one.

But yours is a much happier scenario because now you get an extra episode of something that you love! Winner.

That’s so funny how pleased you must have been to discover that last episode

I had this exact same scenario years ago with Stephen Kings IT , I watched the first DVD then discovered the 2nd one when returning the first one to the box later hours later 🫣 . It seemed to have a natural ending.

It was glorious and all the lose ends were tied up nicely 🤗. 2 years later.

We managed to watch the last episode of Breaking Bad before we'd watched the second to last episode...fuck my life.

PrincessASDaisy · 21/05/2025 13:53

As a huge fan, what did you think of it having watched it so long after?

donaldtrumponlyhasonedancemove · 21/05/2025 14:03

I had the opposite. I sat down to watch the final episode of Succession and I'd already watched it. For some reason I thought there would be another one after that. A crushing blow indeed.

I wanted someone to weigh in that was a fan, so thank you 🤗 .
So what I thought was the last episode was Roman running through the streets after the far right guy who was positioned to take the White house with the help of Roman specifically , and I assumed it was him regretting his choices. I thought this was the point.
But then the family came together to try and topdeo the the alliance, after the Swedish guy fcked over Shiv, and so on and blah, blah blah, then Ken being selected for the top job after deciding it should be him and then subsequently turning on him and then finally Tom came out on top. It was a fitting ending.

This is very funny OP and something I would totally do 🤣

Ha, I also have this low key paranoia every time I binge a box set whether the box has played the next episode correctly.

It’s a millennial woe, gen y don’t think like this.

As a Gen Xer who grew up with 3 TV channels, I never stood a chance.

Saying that, ITVx is notorious for repeating episodes that I have already seen but labelling them like the next episode , but it could just be me - I don't know anymore.
