I’m sorry but what the heck has happened to pass the parcel?
Every child wins a present!!!!
Can’t have anyone disappointed!!!!!

All I’m saying is bring back Luckys dad way-( episode of Bluey) !!!!!!

Honestly I can’t handle this modern day parenting…. And I am one to a 4yr old!

I’m almost 50 and most pass the parcels games I went to as a kid had a lollipop in every layer but the middle had a bigger/better prize. Always did the same on the very few times I did it for my kids.

Are you incapable of understand things from someone else’s perspective. You might not have been bothered if you didn’t get anything. Other kids do mind

Edited

No need to be rude. I was describing my perspective and that was that when I was a child we didn't expect a prize every time.

Why would children mind ? Unless they have been mollycoddled into thinking everyone is entitled to ‘win’ all the time at everything ? As a pp has said, something in every layer gets boring. I accept my experiences are different and times are different but I am allowed to wonder why attitudes have changed and how or when these children will come to terms with not a prize every time.

20 years ago i was doing sweets between layers

RaspberryCombat · 20/05/2025 13:07

When I was little it was Opal Fruits (that’s Starburst, spring chickens!) between every layer.

It’s a crap game all around. I’m out of that age bracket THANKFULLY but I always hated being at a party, seeing kids have fun and then some fucker stops them and forces them to gormlessly sit in a circle.

Depends how you play it.
I've done where there's two parcels going around in opposite directions so sometimes you get it where the parcels meet and arms get tangled.
Or you do it where suddenly "switch directions" is shouted out and you have to switch directions.
Another is "throw it" - when you have it in your hands and when that's called you have to throw it so the parcel ends up in a different part of the circle.
If it's literally just sat in a circle going round and round that's not as fun.

I had fun, I had a nice time, I didn’t need a prize every time.

I accept times have changed but I struggle to understand why this needed to change.

Because we are creating the ‘Entitled’ generation….. 😆🙄

I think what we’re trying to say is we need to teach all children that sometimes in life we don’t get what we want, and these character building exercises are key to teaching children. They will learn at school and going forward. You’re allowed to have your opinion but maybe the rude comments aren’t needed here. It’s a light hearted post.

Hahahah love it. I don’t think I’ll do it again, one and done. The experience was stressful!!
