To think that everyone should experience being underestimated at least once - it’s character building?

Being underestimated is annoying but it forces you to develop resilience, patience, and inner confidence. If everything’s handed to you or everyone expects greatness from you, you don’t build the same strength. AIBU to think that being doubted at least once in life is actually good for you?

I learnt early on it was a good idea. But then I now play to it so throughout school and work I learnt to deliberately come across as less capable so I then surprised people which felt good. But now it's a habit and a defence mechanism which is hard to break and does impact how people see me. I sometimes wish I was arrogant and could just promote myself constantly like colleagues.

I'm currently undergoing the character building effect of being sacked..

Really not sure what you mean.

If somebody underestimates me it’s an error on their part.

Not sure how that would affect me.
