Son caught in middle, am I overthinking?

Hi everyone, not sure if I am thinking about this too much or just let it play out?!

My son is 10, and has lots friends in school. He is friends with 2 boys, who don't get along with one another. He has had playdates back and forth at both boys house and also back at ours.

Last night, boy number 1, his Mum text for a playdate today so all arranged, and my son is happy. However couple of hours later the Mum of boy number two also text for a playdate at their house.

I have left the 2nd one unread for the moment as I am going to say he has plans but not mention details. However, they are all in the same school class and things will become known this way. Just don't want my son caught in the middle of any aggro. Am I overthinking? Will I just let them get on with?

Thanks.

Overthinking. Just text back and says hes busy that day, suggest another day.

Yes you are overthinking just message back and say he already has plans but he could do next weekend if not busy.

Totally overthinking it, do as suggested above and say he’s busy.

def overthinking it, he has plans that’s all you need to say.

faerietales · 18/05/2025 07:14

You’re massively overthinking this. Just say he’s busy and suggest another day instead.

Thank you everyone. Getting my knickers in a twist for nothing! I shall arrange a play during week.
