My toilet is leaking and although I (and my brother) have tried turning the water off, we haven’t managed to stop it completely. There’s only space for a small bowl under the leak so every 15-20 minutes it needs emptying. Plumber is coming in the morning, but I am up, trying to make sure the whole house hasn’t flooded by then.

So, why are you on MN at 4am?!!

Thanks! The water is outside the toilet, not in the bowl. Which is kind of the problem…

Do you have channel lock pliers? I find when mine gets really stiff I can usually shift it with the channel lock pliers.

I’m weirdly not exhausted now, though I imagine tomorrow isn’t going to be great.

So, the cistern is cracked. Unfixable. Plumber has gone to get me a new toilet.

That was not in the budget!

At least he has been able to stop the water, so I can finally start getting the place dry. And it has confirmed my decision to put a new floor in there.
