She taught ds1 12 half-hour classes last term and this term she has had him and ds2 for four classes. There are four children in each class and yet every week she looks at the register and asks for their names. It is really bugging me. I know that to her the names are foreign but they are very easy to pronounce. Also ds2 is the only boy in his class. I find it quite staggering that she finds this simple thing so difficult.

I teach, I find it difficult to remember name. remember that this probably isn't the only class she teaches.

I teach 200 kids a week, it isn't an easy thing to do. In general you tend to remember the more difficult children's names first, if that makes you feel any better

thanks mb, but you teach classes of around 30 I guess and she has four per class and she is having constant interaction with each child, telling them, by name, what to do. They also have tennis lessons and those teachers have no problem remembering names.

My DH sometimes can't remember his own children's names...

dh's are a whole different matter unknownrebelbang, my dh used to forget he had a ds2 .He would come home from work and greet ds1 and then I had to remind him that little ds2 (a month old) was also there.

When she calls them the wrong name in the middle of the class you want to worry....DS's swimming teacher wasn't getting much response from one child last wee.... because she was shouting the wrong name.

Despite having been a teacher I am still rubbish at remember children's names. I was okay in the classroom as I had a seating plan, and took photos of classes on the first day and labelled them. And if they sat in same place it was fine.

I struggle with my client's names now; they are often stopping me to ask me a question and I can still not remember their names! And I have a much smaler "caseload" these days.
