Hi! I’d love to hear your thoughts on this door color. We had this door installed about 10 years ago, and after getting a bit tired of the original grey and the small windows, I decided to go bold and paint it green. I was aiming for a deep, dark green, but from the outside it looks much brighter than expected. Do you think painting the frame a lighter color might help tone it down?

I love the colour! I think painting the frame the same colour as the shelter/ overhang would look better

NotAntisocialJustAllergicToNonsense · 14/05/2025 16:35

I don’t think it needs toning down tbh, it’s nice.
I also think a contrasting door frame would make the door look brighter against the white.

MiddleAgedDread · 14/05/2025 16:35

I quite like it, from the brickwork it looks like a fairly modern property so i think it works and it'll fade over time.

I like the green but think it would be nicer if the frame was white - like this.

I like the colour and it looks fine as it is. Unless you're bored I would just leave it. If you're bored then I would consider a white frame, and white trim around the door glass inserts.

I agree, it's lovely but the frame needs to be white imo.

candycane222 · 14/05/2025 17:42

Nice clour, agree about the frame going white (but not around the glazing -i think that would look fussy)

Flyswats · 14/05/2025 18:12

Its a gorgeous colour, I love it.
Which paint did you use? Colour / brand.
We are moving soon and will need to do some painting. And the front door is currently pillar box red. I dont' know how we're going to mute that.

MatildaTheCat · 14/05/2025 18:14

I’d go even darker but that’s just me.

Totally agree. This looks really smart.

I like it! 😁 big upgrade from grey!

Treacletoots · 14/05/2025 18:48

I personally think it's gorgeous but I like bright colours. If you were thinking of something more muted but similar have you looked at Green Smoke?

OneGiddyDuck · 14/05/2025 18:51

Thank you so much for all the feedback, it's truly appreciated. I need some time to think it over, as there are a few conflicting opinions. I used The One paint, green matte, and honestly, it’s the best paint I’ve ever used. No primer needed, just one or two coats and it’s done!

Yes. I think it's too much with the dark frame.

Lovely colour, though
