Leaving youngest with eldest

I’d be interested to get people’s opinions on this! I have a just turned 18 year old girl, and an 11 year old boy. Both are very sensible, have never caused me any issues.

I don’t have much childcare although this has never really been a problem as I’ve only done things with friends when I’ve not had the kids, and my eldest will happily look after my youngest for an evening.

I’ve been invited to a hen do which will require an overnight stay. I’ve got the kids that weekend and can not find anyone to have my youngest overnight. My oldest has said she will have him overnight so I can go.

For some reason this makes me feel a little uneasy. Would I be unreasonable to leave him with her overnight? Should I decline the hen do offer?

Sounds perfectly reasonable for your 18 year old to look after your 11 year old for one night.

She's 18. Legally an adult. It will be fine 😊

I’m surprised at your answers, I thought I’d be told absolutely do not leave them!

Assuming you trust her not to have a wild party in your house then I can’t see the issue , go and enjoy yourself .

She's an adult. It'll be fine. They'll enjoy it.

Yeah I would go too. At 11 it's not like she needs a alot of help. What a lovely 18 year old you have.

Enjoy!!
