posting here for traffic! (can't get rid of the vote thing)

A panicking single mum, who isn't sure if she's remembered everything for in a few days time!

So far I've got:

Entertainer booked- and double checked they're still coming.

Plates, cups, extra cups for parents. Napkins, straws, wooden cutlery.

balloons, balloon pump, some extra decorations.

I've ordered- party bags, things to go in them, but not the sweets, something to attach balloons to.

Need to get- food, drinks, cake, candles, maybe sweets for the party bags.

Have I forgotten anything? Gosh it all adds up!

Sounds good to me!

Acunningruse · 09/05/2025 12:31

Will you be making hot drinks for parents? If so tea bags, coffee and milk

Kitchen roll for inevitable spillages- and bin liners for clean up!

what food are you doing? Easiest party food i ever did (DC now 12) was hot dogs in slow cooker, sliced hot dog buns, so easy

MumbleJumble123 · 09/05/2025 12:32

That all sounds good.
Do you have a balloon pump, lighter/matches and speaker to play music (I have forgotten all these things in the past). And prizes for any games.
Also, you want bin bags, cleaning wipes/kitchen towel and wetwipes!

Also, if parents are staying then enough cups, drinks and snacks for them.

Where's the pass-the-parcel!

Have you got matches for the candles.

I'm doing hot dogs yes! and fries in the air fryer...also some popcorn in pocorn bags- it's a circus theme! I never thought about cooking them in the slow cooker, so thanks for that!

not doing teas and coffees. I only have two or three mugs, as i don't drink hot drinks much, but i'm sure they'll be okay with some nice soft drinks for 2 hours.

kitchen roll- good idea!

Edited

I've booked an hour with a workshop guy with half an hour eitherside for eating, dancing- so won't have room to fit any games in- plus my dd has autism symptoms so couldn't cope with prizes and a winner iyswim.

haven't got a speaker so thinking to play a youtube kids playlist on the tv and i have to remember to get a month's ad free trial beforehand! deffo got some lighters

will try and get some adult snacks like spring rolls etc.

Can’t think of any thing else, PP’s have covered it.
just get someone to take a photo of you and DC at the party! And ask someone to take a photo of them blowing their candles out if you’re holding it. Have fun! X

Ketchup and bin bags!

Alltheoldpaintings · 09/05/2025 13:06

We do all our parties at home (autistic 8 year old) and always include a quiet spot - so a room set up with lots of cushions and some calm activities like colouring or magnet tiles. Surprising how many kids end up in there for 5 mins at a time when they need a break. Think it has saved us from several meltdowns over the years.

Whoistheeasterbunny · 14/05/2025 20:24

it went really well- thank you all for your ideas and suggestions, it really helped me stay focused!
