My fussy cat has decided he will no longer eat the brand he's always eaten. I have about 30 tins. Is it if use to a good bank?

Or do they only take stuff for people? Thinking people who have cats use food banks too

Yeah most food banks will

Yellowpingu · 08/05/2025 13:40

The one near us does. If you’re unsure you could always donate it to a local rescue?

gerispringer · 08/05/2025 13:40

Some rescues run a pet food bank, and I think pets at Home collect too. But I’m sure a regular food bank would take it too.

Spinachpastapicker · 08/05/2025 13:40

My food bank does, absolutely. Would accept gladly. Has to be unopened obviously. We sadly see several clients who have had to rehome their pets due to costs. It’s heartbreaking.

Some do. You'd have to ask.
There are usually drop off points for animal shelters/charities in supermarkets/pet shops. Some vets might take them too.

I would say yes, and if they didn't I would hope they would know what to do with it.

and yes homeless people have pets, as do rough sleepers, and families/people that are short this week need pet food too.

HuffleMyPuffle · 08/05/2025 13:47

Check in with the one your planning to take it to
Or, as others have said, the local cat rescue

Dearg · 08/05/2025 13:48

Some vets do too and pass on to food banks.

UpJacksArseAndRoundTheCorner · 08/05/2025 13:51

Yes but you'll have to Google or email/phone, as you would with most multiple items you want to donate.

YearlySubscriptionRenewal · 08/05/2025 13:52

A couple of our local vets have a "pet food bank", they need any donation people can make, you might have similar in your area.

Thanks all
Was on my way to Sainsbury's where they have a food bank collection point and didn't want to dump it there if it wasn't going to be useful but they actually had 2 baskets. One was SPECIFICALLY for petfood. Well done Sainsbury's

Yes if it’s a good few weeks left.
