...considering he lives about 10 miles away. It's making the gift of a hairbrush from my mum look wonderful. [moan][feel free to ignore]

It doesn't seem like a brilliant paternal effort, so YANBU.
What does he usually do for your birthday? Is this particularly unusual for him?

Is your birthday today? There's still time for him to do something else if it is.

Happy birthday, I hope other people are nicer to you than they have been!

Well, I think last year he sent a card. I have obviously been downgraded this year to "oh, an IM will do" grade birthday. Sorry, am just having a major sulk It's not as if I am 30 + etc., it's only my 22nd birthday.

My dad does not know when my birthday is!

It matters not a jot.
