Father of the bride outfit- thoughts?

I’m planning on recreating this outfit. The wedding is in the height of Summer so I like the lighter suit. We will be getting him the posh sunnies.

Dad is a similar colour to man in the inspo pic.

Will probably do a flower instead of handkerchief

Not my taste .....what does your dad think about it?

Crou · 07/05/2025 15:42

I love it! Very stylish.

WearyAuldWumman · 07/05/2025 15:46

I prefer the second photo.

Sahara123 · 07/05/2025 15:46

Yup, love it too !

minnienono · 07/05/2025 15:47

It’s fine, just run it past him!

if in the U.K., being the height of summer means nothing re weather!

Olika · 07/05/2025 15:48

I like them especially in a wedding

crumblingschools · 07/05/2025 15:49

Can he not choose his own suit?

Can he not choose his own suit?

He has told me to pick for him. He is disabled and not independent enough to go to the shops on his own/have a wonder around

LOVE it.
But then I must admit that I actually find it a bit sad when I see wedding photos seeing a bride in a long white dress, mothers of the couples in hats and dress/matching coat, and the men all in grey or navy suits. It just looks the same as next doors, or your cousins, or your colleagues... they all just look the same, like there's a rulebook they dutifully followed However, if that's how people want their weddings to look then fabulous, doesn't matter what I think as long as they are happy! But I am very partial to a bit of personality and fun in wedding outfits, I'm sure your dad will look great!

I'm not a huge fan of the brown tbh but the second picture is better than the first.
It just seems drab and muddy-you did ask.

OOI what is/are the groom and the ushers wearing?
What colour are the flowers etc?

edited to say I agree with PP-the matchy matchy vibe is very dated but there are other options...

Crou · 07/05/2025 15:55

@MrsMitford3
Groom and ushers are in navy blue.

Flowers are various shades of (very soft) blushing pink roses in a natural, undone sort of style with a tiny bit of greenery.

thanks @Crou I can see the brown working with navy but it really needs to be crisp like the second one-the first is sloppy and a drab colour.

Your wedding all sounds very pretty.

I am soon to be MOG so lots of wedding chat here so very interested in what ppl choose

This posts says everything I was thinking.

I'm not really liking this, particularly in the first picture, but it is going to depend on what everyone else is wearing as to how it will look on the day.

CarpetKnees · 07/05/2025 15:57

x- posted - things move fast! Smile

Asparename · 07/05/2025 15:58

I don’t like the brown, reminds me of a janitor coat, but obviously up to you and your dad!

Outrageistheopiateofthemasses · 07/05/2025 15:58

Love this

GildedRage · 07/05/2025 16:00

There are much nicer shades of brown the first is too khaki, not to mention ill fitting. The tie too school boy.
Where are you getting your inspo?

Crou · 07/05/2025 16:05

I think I want my dad to make a bit of a statement in a sort of refined way. Well at least aim for that.

He has trouble communicating so I kind of want to put him in something that exudes confidence if that makes sense. You know says something about him and shows off his personality in a visual way. He’s still a proud guy.

Plus I am just partial to a light suit.

Love my fiance in one too.

I like this look too. I just want to show him as the cool guy that he is to all my guests, even the ones who won’t understand him

Thank you! I agree with the crisp comment. Glad I posted as it’s something to look out for when we shop.

Best wishes for your son’s wedding :)
