Carpark

I was in a carpark today and at 2mph reversed into another car
my partner got out and said I didn’t mark it and that we should go , however , I was super paranoid but had no way of leaving a number. When I got home there was some paint ok my car and so I must’ve marked it a bit - I’m so upset and if I wasn’t pregnant and in pain would drive back (shop is also now shut so car won’t be there ) instead I’ve emailed the company and explained that I had no way to leave my details and that could they pass them on if anyone asks
have I done the right thing
could I do more

@CosyUser some tend to leave details on paper and pop it under the wiper?

Ofc, you may not have had paper nor pen?

CosyUser · 05/05/2025 16:53

I had nothing with me to leave a note so I’m hoping the email will be enough

You sound extremely thoughtful OP, and I really don't think there's much more you could have done. If it's only a tiny bit of paint with no dent or anything, I doubt whether the car owner will even notice, but you've definitely done the right thing in my opinion, as most people would have just driven off.

This reminds me of the time I passed my test and I did the same thing, got out and I didn't see any damage but I was so paranoid I rang the security company of the parking complex and asked them to leave a note or something on their car.
Nothing came of it but I couldn't settle until I "did" something.

Someone drove/reversed into my car in the supermarket car park recently, scratched the paintwork and pushed in one of the parking sensors rendering it unusable because it just screams now if I put it into reverse even with nothing around me. Left no details.
My insurance company have approached the supermarket but that doesn't mean they'll give the details.
You could've gone into the shop and asked to use paper and pen.

@TheCurious0range i totally see that now but at the time I didn’t even think I was so confused upset etc , it’s not anywhere near as much damage as that - if I left damage the list I couldn’t done was a slight scuff so hopefully They reach out to the shop
it was a local farm shop with only a few cars

If you have the reg you can call your insurance. They will be able to track owners insurance.
