My kids nanny has warts!

YourHangryFox · 05/05/2025 09:47

So we just got a new babysitter and I noticed that she has some warts on her hands. I don’t want my kids to get warts as they are hard to get rid of. I think I’m going to get a new babysitter. Aibu?

I’m grossed out! I didn’t know anybody had warts anymore either!

I’m having them wear flip flops at the pool and I told them not to touch anyone that has warts.

I get where you are coming from, warts are horrible, but, your kids could get them from anyone they come into contact with, a friend, get them at swimming.

You might be grossed out but the world is fairly gross.

Your children will come into contact with all sorts and as an adult you have to be able to cope with it - warts, worms, lice, vomiting, diarrhoea - all of it - it's your job as their parent to cope.

You can find an alternative babysitter but they may have other undesirable virus/bacteria/fungi/parasites that they pass on to you and your family - this is the possibility with anyone they meet. They are very likely to have contact with this virus in a school environment.

cryinginthechapel · 05/05/2025 10:46

I’m pretty certain the more the nanny spends time with them, the better behaved the children become, and the warts disappear. Anyone else agree?

Not far off the sort of bullying I saw at primary school- ugh, don’t touch Kevin, he’s got warts! I don’t want to sit with him/play with him. My mum says I shouldn’t.

it wasn’t warts at my school (or Kevin), but it could have been.

just think about what you’re actually teaching your kids @YourHangryFox

YourHangryFox · 05/05/2025 10:51

I just don’t want them to catch a warts and have them for years and keep coming back throughout their lives. As I’ve heard.

Push her into a river and see if she floats or drowns op.

They won’t, necessarily. As I said I had one as an early teen, never had one since. I’m 63 now.

You’re being ridiculous. You can’t prevent it if they’re going to get them they will (and will you not cuddle them, if they do?). Any more than you can prevent them catching vomiting bugs, colds, or nits.

Megifer · 05/05/2025 10:57

And "grossed out", are you very young?

Wait til you hear about verrucas, worms and nits!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 05/05/2025 10:59

Don't feed it.

YourHangryFox · 05/05/2025 10:59

I’m 24. I just get grossed out easily.

Yeah I might have to if she stays with us. I’m just afraid of warts because I’ve never had one and I don’t want one or my kids to have them. They’re so gross!

Ffs get a grip

ToffeePennie · 05/05/2025 11:49

Warts are contagious but get a good anti fungal and suggest she uses it on her warts and they should be gone. My go to is Mykored.

Warts are caused by a virus, not a fungus.

I had a wart on my knee as young teen, tried everything to get rid of it but nothing worked. Then one day Irealised it had gone. I played with it and picked at it loads but it didn’t spread and I never got any on my hands.

Are you me? I could have posted the same thing, word for word!

DD had one and just last night she went it has gone

veruccas are everywhere OP you really can’t escape it
that said I would not want to be your babysitter

Justfreedom · 05/05/2025 11:55

I have a small wart on my finger and my sister as a wart as well.
I guess we should stay indoors or be evacuated to the isolated countryside.

steff13 · 05/05/2025 11:56

Have you considered a leper colony?

Puttinginthemiles · 05/05/2025 11:56

You've got children? Bloody hell.

ToffeePennie · 05/05/2025 12:03

KimberleyClark · 05/05/2025 11:50

Warts are caused by a virus, not a fungus.

True, but many anti fungal preparations can also kill the wart virus. I have used Mykored for this exact reason many many times and it has been 100% successful, which is why I suggested it.

DinaofCloud9 · 05/05/2025 12:06

Surely people aren't actually believing this?

Honestly OP, I am embarrassed for you. You are a grown woman, with a child. Stop speaking (and worse thinking) like some awful caricature of a spoiled teenager.

Bonjovispyjamas · 05/05/2025 12:13

I'm a nanny and the kids i look after have warts. Maybe I should hand my notice in 😜
