Salmon safety

Am I wrong to fear food poisoning from cooked salmon in a salad from a very reputable source which has been out of fridge for 5 hours but in a cool room and still in its packaging.
I have food anxiety

smell it - if it smells ok I would

YANBU. I wouldn’t eat un-refrigerated Salmon.

Fidgety31 · 04/05/2025 18:05

It will be fine

I tasted a little bit before discarding. It smelt and tasted fine but as I have major gut problems I didn't want to risk it as I almost died from food poisoning. Hate wasting food tho.

I’m like you OP, I get paranoid about food poisoning and have a sensitive gut anyway so I wouldn’t have eaten it.
I know people who could eat it no issue and be fine!

SusanSHelit · 04/05/2025 19:22

Wasting a bit of salmon is better than forcing yourself to eat something you are not comfortable with, whether it would pose a health risk or not, and I say that as someone who doesn't eat or fish so particularly dislike the wasting of those foods

ExtraOnions · 04/05/2025 19:23

It’s only been 5 hours, it will be fine.

Olika · 04/05/2025 19:24

Even without any food anxiety I wouldn’t have eaten salmon kept out of the fridge for 5 hours.
