Hello everyone,
I’m in the process of relocating to Chester and exploring the best high school options for my daughter. We’ll be living in the Vicars Cross area, but I’m struggling to find convenient transport links to either Christleton High School or Bishop Heber High School.
Google Maps suggests a 40-minute walk, which isn’t really practical for her. Does anyone know what the commuting options are for either of these schools from Vicars Cross?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It would probably be bus to the bus station then a bus from there for Christleton High. Bishops Hebre is a long way out.

Thank you, I was wondering if there is any hidden connection we are not aware or. Yeah Bishops is mainly walk.... as bus make not change is commuting time

Do you mean Bishops Blue Coat? Bishops Hebre is in Malpas x

Depending where you are moving to in vicars cross you can walk to the peacock in Boughton & then bus from there to Christleton high.

Christleton High and Bishops Blue Coat are both walkable from Vicars Cross, I see armies of kids doing it every day. They cut along the canal for Christleton and Bishops High is even nearer.

As a PP says, Bishops Hebre is quite a way out.

It’s a great place to relocate to with children, I did years ago.

Bishop Heber is a long bus ride out of Chester. It's 15 miles away.
Christleton is about 10 mins on the bus.
Bishop Bluecoat is in Boughton and is walkable from city centre.
All are good schools and popular.

I see what you mean now, my phone says 38 mins but I see lots of local kids walking there from Vicars X

DS says there’s no way it would take that long. DD may have a different opinion 😃

Welcome neighbour! 👋 You’ll be very near me.
What school year are your DCs? Mine are all grown up now.
Both Bishops and Christleton are great schools, for SEN reasons mine had to go to the other side of town.

Hello, neighbour!
My daughter will be starting secondary school (Year 7) this September, and my son will be going into Year 5. We're moving from Merseyside, so we're not very familiar with the local schools beyond what we've found online. Does anyone have any opinions or experiences to share about Catholic High School? It seems to have strong links with Vicars Cross. .

Mine both went to the Catholic High, DS had it named on his statement as it had an Auttism Resource Base within the mainstream school and have a better awareness than most across the rest of the school regarding ND children

It had good pastoral care and suited a range of abilities. It has its own sixth form which is a great bonus. Both my DCs stayed there for A Levels and got good support with successful uni applications.

It’s easy to get to from Vicars X.
