I was trying to call somebody the other day and jt kept saying ‘the person your calling cannot answer right now’ would this indicate they are already on the phone or have no signal ? Aibu to already assume they are on a call and just bare faced lying or really out of range with no signal

It says that when there’s no signal or the phone is switched off.

Out of range with no signal. Or as PP said phone is off.

There are a number of reasons. If you google that phrase, it’ll tell you them.

Or maybe it’s a giant conspiracy and they’ve got this particular option set to you, OP, even when they have signal because you’re high maintenance and they don’t want to talk to you. Who knows?

For all those asking it’s my daughter 🤣 she went out and couldn’t get hold of her after her curfew and I was trying to contact her, we’ve got police involved for her abusive dad but she loves him and is blind sided by him. I know he’s been trying to contact her as he tries to brain wash her so I’m not sure if she was in the phone to him or not or really had no signal. For context she’s 14 so not a baby but still quite young

I've had that message when I ve been simultaneously trying to phone some one when they are trying to phone me.
