AIBU to think it's not that sensible to walk your ferrets in the local park (lighthearted)

I was just walking my dog in our local park and encountered a guy walking two ferrets with little harnesses and leads on 😅

Very cute, but I thought also not the smartest idea in a park which always has off lead dogs! My dog is was on lead (she's a whippet with prey drive and also loves scavenging floor food) but she was veeeeery interested in them. She wears a three point harness she can't escape from so no dangers there but I was surprised anyone would take the risk 😳

Ferrets would probably just scamper up their human (They can be pretty aggressive when provoked a dog might come away with a decent injury I’ ve met a few working ferrets, brilliant ratters)

Someone who lives near me walks hers on the street and takes them to the local pub, where they appear to co-exist in reasonable harmony either the chihuahua of another regular.

I like seeing ferrets out for walks, many are friendly enough to have a little cuddle. I imagine i'd ask the walekr directly "Aren't you worried about dogs having a go, what would you do if a dog seemed to approach aggressively?"

Don't need to wonder on here.

Oh okay that's good to know, I was a bit worried for the little guys! I've always liked the look of ferrets, they're so funny and wriggly. My mate used to work at an animal rescue place and sent me some hilarious videos of the ferrets they had there

Yeah I did want to go over and chat but like I said, I had my high prey drive dog with me who was showing interest in them and I didn't want to wind her up or frighten them.

In Yorkshire it is obligatory to have either a whippet or a ferret with you whilst exercising outdoors.
