Now I don't know if I'm over reading into this but my MIL has had a gardener come over and sort her garden out and she suggested we use this person too as is well priced and does a good job. I think the person works with my MIL.
In preparation for the bank holiday weekend my husband decided to ask for the details to arrange the person to come sort our garden out. Mil has insisted she will arrange and didn't share number.
nothing has transpired for a few days and I have contacted MIL asking for the number so I can contact directly but I am told it's arranged for Sunday. I replied we have plans let me communicate directly but the reply from MIL is I will sort it don't worry. I have told MIL you don't know our availability so how will you arrange a time that is convenient for both parties but she still hasn't shared the number and said she will sort and will expect us to use the gardener at her arrangement.

Im really pissed off at the seemingly need to control this simple task of arranging a gardener when it was mil who talked us into using said gardner.

Just to add husband can sort garden out but we were giving the 'work' to this person as they need the extra money..

AIBU or is MIL?

Just ask her to cancel the gardener and find your own?

I've just edited to add we don't need the Gardner really and can sort garden ourselves but have been talked into helping this person with extra work. Just don't understand why the details have been kept a secret

I have a relative who does things like this and it's very annoying!

Maybe she’s some idea of organising and paying for the gardener herself as a treat for you ?

We would never let her pay for us. She knows this. I hope...

Just say you don’t need them any more and have found your own person. You know, with a phone you can call so you can arrange a suitable time,
