My coworker told me he was unwell and had some terrible health news. He will be looking to retire in five years. He told me his wife told him to keep going as they cannot compromise their lifestyle but he cannot see how this would work. I was surprised he shared this, but his wife’s comments are terrible. I didn't say much but feel sorry for him. When my husband was working in a toxic workplace, I supported him in quitting and retraining. I don't know what kind of marriage they have, but it feels terrible your spouse wouldn't help you.
