Superdrug- how do you expect me to buy things?

Total moanfest coming up.
I was in my local Superdrug today and firstly, they had NO TESTERS of any make up. Apparently its store policy now. I needed a new product so needed to test colours. Not possible. Then I needed a new body spray. I was taking the lids off and not spraying, just sniffing and 2 members of staff came rushing to the aisle, and told me I couldn't spray them (I wasnt)
I then went to get some nail stuff and again another member of staff came over chatting onto the headset thing and stood right next to.me and watched me. I'm.a perfectly normal middle aged woman, not a burglar I'm a stripy jumper. Now maybe they get a lot of shoplifting, I get that. But how are you meant to buy make up and perfume without seeing the colours or smelling if you like it???

I bet they do get a lot of shoplifting. My local branch has a very friendly security guard😁

They have rows of testers on every single make up stand in my local Superdrug. Maybe it's just that one?

roses2 · 28/04/2025 20:50

It's the product manufacturer that provides the testers not Superdrug - blame them for the cutbacks!

Not for the overzealous headset staff though

I was in superdrugs today and they had testers for the make up so maybe it's just your local having a delivery issue

CraftyNavySeal · 28/04/2025 20:55

Every single time I go to my local Superdrug I go to pay and something has the wrong price on the shelf. Plenty of testers though.

There's two branches in my town and both have no testers. This is so weird.

Yes, I was in today, loads of testers for every kind of makeup. I've never noticed a pricing error, I shop there a lot.

Yes, really strange.

They definitely said "oh no we don't have testers anymore" as when I asked how could anyone buy make up without checking it suited skin tone, they said it was just store policy now. Very bizarre

I've noticed this too and have heard numerous other customers complaining about it. Our local Superdrug stores have plenty of testers though and no security guards.

That is really bizarre, then, as a different store i was in last week also had loads of testers too.

Maybe they've had loads of shoplifting or something and testers attract groups of teenagers or something ?
Dunno. Anyway v strange. That would explain the overzealous staff as well

Same I must have spent over £60 in Superdrug today (I needed new stage make up and so on) and everything I needed had a tester available
