To wonder what is going on with the power in Spain

AIBU to wonder what is going on? Feel like the weather might not be the actual reason. Knock on effects to grid across Europe. Am I being unreasonable to not believe what we are being told? Could it be a cyber attack of some kind?

Oh I don’t know so I didn’t vote. Hubby is their with friends. He is loving me for making him take cash. He wasn’t going to and I just made the bureau de change before closing on Friday night. That cash has saved them today. Not even water in the hotel as it runs on an electric pump, also issues with room access due to key cards not working. Hopefully it resolves soon

My ds is in the Canaries and the problems have spread there too

I've said on another thread, Keep using cash people! it's essential.

Having said that I'm not taking my ken advice I keep meaning to take out small amounts of cash but I'm not near a cash point.

@Treviarpelli when? This pm?

I live in Barcelona and my power has been back on since about 1930.

It was annoying and unsettling for a moment, I collected my kids from school early just because I'm not comfortable with being unreachable when they are not with me and all phone lines were down all afternoon. But I didn't see scenes of mass panic. Everyone was being pretty helpful in my neighborhood in Barcelona, the supermarket under my flat let me get a load of stuff on tic and I went down and paid as soon as the power went back on. We checked on our neighbours who are older by knocking on at their flats and checking they were ok.

Hoping that normality resumed now.

I always have cash for takeaways as our local one don't all take cards. To get change I get £1 coins from the Arcades on seaside breaks. There's no local bank anymore and my bank seems to have lto look down the sofa to find enough to cover £5 in coins.

This reminds me I need a new tin opner as the only working one is a plug in one. I'd be outside with a rock trying to open my beans!

Can’t believe they’re having electricity problems with all the high quality Chinese solar panels they have in Spain :(

Me too, I try but end up giving it all to the kids when they need it for things

Please, spell out your conspiracy theory for us. "They" are lying to us because "they" want to get rid of cash, and if we knew it was a cyber attack then we'd resist? Why would "they" be bothered?

They’re saying it’s down to net zero , the more solar / wind powering the grid the more unstable it becomes .
