To want to find out how many pupils were offered a reception place in a particular school?

I want to know how many children were offered places for this year (ie to start September 25) in a couple of local schools in Hampshire. I've searched all through the councils website but can't seem to see this information. Can anyone help please?

Or is this information not available until September?

You could possibly do an FOI to the council.
But the schools will have published how many places they have, and the offers usually match that unless undersubscribed

You can see the data here.

I'm a bit confused about some of the numbers.

Eg where they have say a PAN of 60, received 80 applications but only offered 45 places? Why wouldn't they offer the full 60 if they had more than 60 applications?

Because some will have been eligible for a place at a higher preference.

Oh, thanks, so not just how many applications they had that put them first, but includes children who had that school as second or third choice? That makes sense now. I was wondering why some schools were turning people away!

Yes, that’s right.

Thanks. Looks like DD will have a good chance of going where I'd like her to for 2026 if it's similar.
